The internal mounting housing for the removable front towing eye on your Seat Leon is conveniently located on the right side of the front bumper, safely concealed underneath a flush-fitting protective cover lid ››› Fig. 222.

The screw-in towing eye should always be kept safely stored in your vehicle at all times for emergency readiness.

Fitting the towing eye

1. Retrieve the towing eye from the vehicle on-board tool kit located under the luggage compartment floor.

2. Remove the bumper cover lid by pressing firmly down on its lower base section and leave it hanging securely from the vehicle body via its retaining strap ››› Fig. 222.

3. Screw the towing eye directly into the threaded housing by turning it in an anticlockwise direction ››› Fig. 223, ››› as far as it will go. Use a suitable sturdy object, such as a wheel wrench handle, that can fully and securely tighten the towing eye into its internal housing.

4. After the towing procedure has been completed, unscrew the towing eye by turning it clockwise using a suitable tool.

5. Reinstall the plastic cover lid and push it firmly into place until the retaining tabs click securely into the bumper recess.

6. Clean any dirt or road grime off the towing eye if necessary and store it back in the luggage compartment alongside the other on-board tools.

NOTICE The towing eye must always be completely, tightly, and securely screwed in all the way. Otherwise, the dynamic forces during towing could cause it to unthread or jump out of its mounting housing.
