Seat Leon >> Legal provisions
While using SEAT CONNECT online services, operational data and telemetry are transmitted wirelessly between your vehicle and central servers. This data may indirectly provide information regarding individual driving behavior, travel history, and real-time vehicle coordinates. As the primary contract holder of the SEAT CONNECT agreement with SEAT, S.A., you are responsible for ensuring that personal data rights and privacy are respected whenever third parties—such as friends or family members—drive your Seat Leon.
Consequently, you must inform all drivers beforehand that the vehicle actively transmits and receives data online, and that you have permission to view this telemetry remotely.
Failing to fulfill this notification requirement may violate the personal privacy rights of other vehicle occupants.
Drivers can manage data transmission preferences and toggle sharing levels at any time using the onboard Privacy Mode settings.
Follow-up services: ask all occupants
Location-based follow-up services rely on real-time vehicle telemetry and GPS data to monitor whether your Seat Leon is driven within specific speed thresholds, track where it is currently parked, or detect when it enters or exits designated geofenced zones. This information is uploaded directly to your My SEAT App.
Therefore, before setting off on a journey, confirm that all passengers agree to the active location-tracking services. If any occupant objects, deactivate the specific tracking feature via the infotainment system if possible, or refrain from operating the connected services during that drive.
GPS tracking: marking
If your vehicle comes fitted from the factory with a control unit that transmits location and vehicle speed data, a dedicated GPS symbol or marking is typically displayed on the overhead console trim. However, the absence of a physical ceiling emblem does not guarantee that onboard telemetry modules are disabled or inactive.
Personal information
SEAT handles personal data in strict compliance with legal data protection regulations or specific user consent given during service setup. You can review full details regarding telemetry processing, data collection, and privacy rights within the SEAT CONNECT Privacy Policy, available in its current version on the official SEAT website.
Permanent transfer of the vehicle
If you purchase a pre-owned Seat Leon or take over permanent operational use from another driver, SEAT CONNECT services may remain active under the previous owner's profile. This allows the former primary user to view vehicle data or send remote commands.
Registering yourself as the new primary user automatically removes the previous account's access privileges. Alternatively, you can clear all stored profile data by resetting the system to factory settings (
> Restore factory settings) or selecting "Incognito" mode (maximum privacy), which restricts telemetry exchange between your Seat Leon and SEAT, S.A. servers.
Deactivating SEAT CONNECT services
You can manage and control the operational status of SEAT CONNECT features through the following system settings:
- Adjust data transmission limits directly within the infotainment system screen via Privacy Mode.
- Enable or disable individual connected service functions wherever feature customization is supported.
Deactivated features can be restored and re-enabled at any time through the same infotainment menu.
Note Mandatory safety functions mandated by law—such as the automated Emergency Call Service (eCall)—and their underlying data connections cannot be disabled or turned off by the user.
