How it works

The Park Assist system integrated into your Seat Leon utilizes advanced radar sensors located in the rear bumper fascia to continuously monitor crossing traffic behind the vehicle as you reverse out of a parking bay, or when maneuvering in tight spaces, particularly in conditions involving very low visibility.

When the system detects an oncoming vehicle approaching from the side that poses a potential hazard relative to the rear of your Seat Leon ››› Fig. 161, an audible warning alarm will sound if the approaching vehicle is evaluated as critical.

In addition to the acoustic warning tone, the driver is alerted by a clear visual signal displayed on the central Infotainment system screen. This alert is rendered as a striking red warning strip positioned at the rear of the vehicle graphic on the infotainment display. This visual indicator highlights the exact side from which cross-traffic is approaching your car.

Connecting and disconnecting

The Rear Cross Traffic Alert function can be conveniently switched on and off by navigating into the Assistants menu within the central infotainment system. It can also be accessed directly via the dedicated Park Assist settings submenu.

Additionally, the system can be toggled on and off by accessing the Assistants configuration menu directly from the digital instrument cluster display screen.

Whenever the vehicle ignition is turned off and restarted, the system will automatically retain and maintain the last active user adjustment configured.

Trailer mode

Rear Cross Traffic Alert is automatically deactivated and cannot be enabled if a vehicle tow hitch is electrically connected to a trailer, caravan, or similar towing accessory. As soon as the driver begins moving off with an electrically connected trailer, a status message appears on the digital instrument cluster display confirming that the assistant has been turned off.

Once the trailer is uncoupled and electrically disconnected from your Seat Leon, the assistant will automatically revert to its exact initial operational state prior to the trailer being plugged in.

If your car is equipped with an aftermarket, non-factory tow hitch, the Rear Cross Traffic Alert system must be deactivated manually via the menu whenever you are driving with a trailer attached.

WARNING The smart assistance technology incorporated into Rear Cross Traffic Alert cannot alter or overcome the limits imposed by the unyielding laws of physics; it functions strictly within established system boundaries. The presence of this park assist function should never tempt you into taking unnecessary safety risks. The system is never a replacement for continuous driver awareness and checking your blind spots.

  • The system should never be relied upon blindly in extreme low visibility conditions or complex traffic scenarios, such as in congested high-traffic areas or when backing out across multiple lanes.
  • Always maintain full visual awareness of the vehicle's surrounding environment, as the radar sensors frequently fail to detect fast-moving bicycles, skateboards, or pedestrians crossing behind you.
  • The Rear Cross Traffic Alert system itself will not automatically brake your Seat Leon to a complete stop to avoid a collision.
