Seat Leon rear boot lid showing the exterior release button integrated into the SEAT brand emblem
Fig. 80 Rear lid: opening from the outside.

To lock or unlock the rear lid remotely, press the Seat Leon key fob lock button icon or Seat Leon key fob tailgate unlock button icon buttons on your vehicle key fob.

Manual opening and closing

  • Open: press the top edge of the SEAT emblem and lift the rear lid upwards ››› Fig. 80.
  • Close: firmly grip the rear lid using one of the dedicated recessed handles on the interior trim lining and pull it downwards to close.

If all passenger doors are locked, the rear lid is automatically locked as well for security.

A clear warning message will appear on the instrument cluster display if the rear lid is left open or is not properly and fully closed.

The rear lid locks itself automatically once the vehicle starts moving and exceeds a low speed.

When the outside ambient temperature is around freezing, ice accumulation may prevent the gas struts from automatically raising the rear lid. In such cases, carefully lift the rear lid by hand.

Note If the rear lid is not physically opened within a few minutes after being unlocked via remote, the system automatically relocks the tailgate for safety.
