Seat Leon >> Introduction

The rear luggage lid of your Seat Leon unlocks and locks in complete synchronization with all the passenger doors.

On vehicles equipped with the advanced Keyless Access start and locking system, the rear lid automatically unlocks as soon as you operate it if a valid key is nearby.

WARNING Careless, improper, or unsuitable locking, opening, and closing procedures involving the rear lid can cause severe accidents and serious personal injuries.

  • Never attempt to close the rear lid by pushing it down directly with your hand on the exterior rear window glass. The glass could shatter unpredictably, presenting an extreme risk of injury!
  • Always ensure that the rear lid is securely locked and latched after closing it. If it is not fully engaged, it may open unexpectedly while driving.
  • Never open or close the rear lid carelessly or in an uncontrolled, swinging manner, as this could cause serious crushing injuries to yourself or third parties.

Always verify that no person, animal, or obstruction is in the movement path of the rear lid as it closes or opens.

  • Never drive your Seat Leon with the rear lid open or left half-closed, because toxic engine exhaust gases may penetrate into the interior cabin of the vehicle. This creates a severe danger of poisoning!
  • Never open the tailgate if heavy cargo, such as bicycles mounted on a carrier rack, is attached to it. The rear lid may swing or close by itself due to the sudden additional weight. If necessary, remove the cargo first or hold the rear lid firmly.
  • Never leave the vehicle unattended or allow children to play inside or immediately next to it, especially if the rear lid is left open. Children could climb into the luggage compartment, close the rear lid from inside, and become trapped. A locked vehicle can reach extremely high and low ambient temperatures rapidly, depending on the time of year, thus causing serious injuries, sudden illness, or even fatal consequences.

NOTICE

  • Before opening or closing the rear lid, always make sure that there is enough physical clearance space to open or close it fully—for instance, when towing a trailer or parked inside a tight garage.
  • Never use the rear window wiper arm or rear spoiler to secure cargo, tie down items, or use them as a physical handhold. Doing so could cause structural damage that leads to the breakage of the wiper mechanism or spoiler.

Note Before finally closing the rear lid of your Seat Leon, make sure that the primary vehicle key has not been accidentally left inside the luggage compartment space.
