Seat Leon >> Exit Warning
How it works

Fig. 163 Door: warning lamp
The door opening warning system (Exit Warning) integrated into your Seat Leon is designed to warn vehicle occupants of a potential collision when opening any of the doors while the car is stationary.
Within the physical operating limits of the technology, the system continuously monitors the rear and side environment surrounding the vehicle by utilizing the high-precision rear radar sensors.
It actively detects moving objects approaching rapidly from behind, such as passing cars or cyclists ››› Fig. 162.
If a critical safety situation is detected at the moment a door is opened, an acoustic warning alert sounds from the door loudspeaker on the corresponding side ››› Fig. 163. Additionally, the side assist indicator light on the corresponding door trim will flash, but only when the front doors are open. When the rear doors are opened, the door-mounted side assist indicator light is not available. If either front door has already been opened and another road user has been detected in a critical approach path, the control lamp of the lane departure warning on that respective side will illuminate permanently.
The display brightness of the door opening assistant can be easily adjusted by navigating into the Side Assist configuration menu on the screen.
When you unlock and approach your Seat Leon for the first time with all doors closed and locked, the function becomes fully available 3 minutes after the initial opening of any door. The system will continue to remain active and available as long as the vehicle's ignition is switched on and the car is not moving.
After switching off the ignition, the Exit Warning function will remain operational for approximately 3 more minutes to protect occupants as they exit.
Connecting and disconnecting
The door opening assistant can be enabled and disabled manually by accessing the Assistants menu in the central infotainment system. It can also be located and configured directly within the Park Assist Settings menu.
When the vehicle is restarted, the system will automatically preserve and maintain the last active user adjustment.
Trailer mode
The door opening assistant will be automatically deactivated and cannot be enabled if a tow hitch is electrically plugged into a trailer, caravan, or similar towing accessory.
Once the trailer is uncoupled and unplugged from your Seat Leon, the assistant will automatically return to its exact initial operational state prior to the trailer being electrically connected.
If your car is fitted with a non-factory tow hitch, the door opening assistant must be deactivated manually via the menu every time you drive with a trailer attached.
WARNING
- Always pay close, direct attention to surrounding traffic and the immediate environment outside your vehicle. The door opening warning (Exit Warning) can never replace the necessary vigilance required of the vehicle's occupants. Full legal responsibility for opening doors and exiting the vehicle safely always rests entirely with the occupants.
- The door opening warning (Exit Warning) operates continuously as long as the vehicle ignition is turned on. When the ignition is off, the system is deactivated and the warning lamps flash briefly upon shutdown.
- It is possible that a complex traffic situation may not be interpreted correctly, and the system cannot detect all approaching objects, such as fast-moving pedestrians or runners. Always visually check traffic and scan the area surrounding your Seat Leon before opening any doors.
WARNING The door opening warning (Exit Warning) is subject to inherent system boundaries and cannot guarantee a warning against an imminent collision in all scenarios:
- If your vehicle is parked too deeply into a parking bay or tight space where adjacent parked vehicles completely obstruct the sensor field of view.
- In certain circumstances, fast-approaching objects or people moving on bicycles or electric scooters may not be detected in time.
- The radar system does not react to stationary objects or parked cars.
