Seat Leon >> Pedestrian and cyclist recognition
The advanced safety system on your Seat Leon is engineered to reliably recognise vulnerable road users, including pedestrians and cyclists travelling ahead in the same lane and direction, as well as those moving transversely across the vehicle's path.
However, pedestrian and cyclist recognition technology cannot exceed prescribed physical limits and operates strictly within established system boundaries.
The ultimate legal and physical responsibility for braking and vehicle control always rests entirely with the driver.
The pedestrian and cyclist detection functions can occasionally trigger unwanted warnings or unintended braking interventions—for instance, if the front radar sensor is obscured or if the optical camera field of vision is dirty or blocked.
Always remain fully attentive and be ready to take over complete control of the vehicle at any moment.
The operating speed range for pedestrian and cyclist recognition differs from and is generally lower than that of the primary Front Assist system.
Dodge assist
Dodge assist (evasive steering support) is designed to help the driver actively maneuver around a sudden obstacle in critical driving conditions.
Once the Front Assist system has triggered a critical warning, if the driver initiates a steering movement to dodge the detected object, the swerve assist function provides supportive steering torque to help correct the vehicle's trajectory.
The driver must initiate, guide, and finish the evasive maneuver entirely, as this is purely a supportive driver assistance system and not an autonomous steering system.
This supportive function is active across a speed range between approximately 30 km/h (20 mph) and 150 km/h (90 mph).
Limitations
This supportive system does not react to animals or to static objects crossing the path of the vehicle laterally. All basic operational limitations governing Front Assist must also be carefully taken into account.
Turn-off assist
Turn-off assist can prevent a frontal collision with an oncoming vehicle approaching from the opposite direction by actively braking your Seat Leon when you initiate a turn across traffic.
This safety system remains active at slow turning speeds up to approximately 25 km/h (15 mph).
Limitations
The turn-off assist function is only available if you have clearly indicated your intention to turn by activating the directional turn signal, turned the steering wheel, and the turning path has formally commenced.
The system reacts exclusively to other vehicles directly in your turning path and will not trigger for animals, pedestrians, or other non-vehicular objects.
The general operational limitations of Front Assist must likewise be observed at all times.
Warning levels and brake assist
Front Assist is operational starting from speeds of 5 km/h (3 mph) upwards. Depending on various ambient conditions—such as vehicle travel speed, the speed and category of the recognised obstacle, a ...
Junction assist
Junction Assist integrated into your Seat Leon can actively prevent the vehicle from colliding with cross traffic when pulling out of an exit or entering a busy intersection or junction.
