Seat Leon >> Description
The central locking system allows all passenger doors, the rear luggage lid, and the fuel tank flap to be unlocked simultaneously: However, in hybrid vehicles: the fuel tank flap does not unlock automatically with the general central locking command.
- From outside the vehicle, using the remote control key fob.
- From outside using the hands-free Keyless Access system sensors.
- From inside the cabin, by pressing the dedicated central locking button located on the interior door panel.
Self-locking system to prevent involuntary unlocking
This automated security function acts as an anti-theft safeguard and prevents the unintentional unlocking of your Seat Leon. If the vehicle is unlocked via remote but none of the doors (including the rear luggage compartment) are physically opened within 45 seconds, the entire system re-locks itself automatically.
Automatic locking (Auto Lock)
For added security while driving, your Seat Leon locks all doors automatically once you reach a speed exceeding approximately 15 km/h (9 mph). In standard models, the fuel tank flap remains unlocked so that an attendant can refuel without requiring you to step out of the vehicle.
Hybrid vehicles: the fuel tank flap remains securely locked under these driving conditions.
Whenever the vehicle is safely locked, the illuminated control lamp
on the central locking switch lights up in yellow.
Automatic unlocking (Auto Unlock)
If any one of the following specific conditions is fulfilled, all passenger doors and the rear lid will unlock automatically:
- The electronic parking brake is fully engaged and the engine ignition is switched off.
- EITHER: an inside door handle is pulled directly by an occupant while travelling at speeds under 15 km/h (9 mph).
- OR: a collision occurs where an airbag has been triggered by the crash sensors.
This automatic unlocking sequence allows emergency responders or third parties to access the interior of your Seat Leon quickly to provide immediate medical assistance if necessary.
Turn signals
The exterior turn signal hazard lights will flash twice when the vehicle is unlocked and once when the vehicle is successfully locked.
If the indicators fail to flash during locking, this clearly indicates that one of the passenger doors, the rear lid, or the engine bonnet is not fully closed and latched correctly.
Accidental lock-out
If you have inadvertently left the vehicle key inside the cabin, the car cannot be locked under the following specific circumstances:
- If the driver's door remains open, the vehicle cannot be locked from the inside using the central locking switch.
Always lock your Seat Leon using the remote control key fob only after all side doors and the rear lid have been fully closed. Following this simple rule prevents the accidental locking of your key inside the vehicle.
Central locking settings
Central locking preferences and behavioral options can be easily adjusted and customized directly within the Infotainment system menu of your Seat Leon.
Selective unlocking of the doors
- Press the function button
>
Vehicle > Exterior
> Opening and closing > Central locking.
You can configure your preference to decide whether a single unlocking command unlocks all passenger doors, just a single door, or only one specific side of the vehicle.
By contrast, a single locking action will always securely secure and operate all vehicle doors simultaneously regardless of the particular unlocking mode currently selected.
When the "One door" setting is active, only the driver's door is unlocked when:
- The unlock button
on the remote
control key fob is pressed once. - OR: The driver's door is unlocked once manually using the mechanical key blade.
- OR: It is unlocked once via the Keyless Access sensor on the driver's door handle. If instead you trigger the passenger door handle, the entire vehicle unlocks.
- OR: It is unlocked by walking up and approaching the driver's door. Automatic proximity unlocking does not occur when approaching the passenger side door.
When the "One side" setting is selected, the entire driver's side of the vehicle is unlocked when:
- The unlock button on the remote control key fob is pressed once.
- OR: It is unlocked once using the mechanical key blade.
- OR: It is unlocked once via Keyless Access sensors on the driver's door handle. If unlocked at the passenger door handle, only the passenger side doors are unlocked.
Exception: Regardless of whether "One door" or "One side" is selected, operating the unlocking mechanism twice in rapid succession in less than 2 seconds will always unlock the entire Seat Leon.
With the "All doors" setting enabled, a single unlocking action will immediately unlock all vehicle passenger doors and the rear luggage lid.
Note
- Never leave any valuable items or belongings in your Seat Leon unattended. Even a locked vehicle can never be considered a secure safe.
- If the LED warning light on the driver's door sill stays lit for about 30 seconds after the vehicle is locked, it indicates that the central locking system or the anti-theft alarm system is not functioning properly. You should have this fault diagnosed and repaired promptly at an official SEAT Service or specialized workshop.
- Vehicle interior surveillance by the anti-theft alarm system will only function as intended if all side windows and the sliding sunroof are fully closed.
