Unlocking the charging connector Prerequisites:

  • The charging connector is plugged in correctly and securely seated.
  • The vehicle is unlocked from the central locking system.
  • The charging process has ended or has successfully paused.
  • When charging with alternating current (AC), the setting Release connector automatically is activated in the infotainment system menu.

The manual release mechanism must be used if these prerequisites are met and it is still impossible to unplug the charging connector from your Seat Leon safely.

Emergency electrical release of the charging connector

To avoid having to perform a manual emergency release procedure, try releasing the charging connector electronically using the vehicle's central locking system first.

  • Unlock the vehicle three times in a row using the key fob or central switch.
  • Unplug the charging connector promptly from the socket.

Manual release of the charging connector

The puller for the manual release mechanism is located on the left-hand side of the engine compartment, positioned directly above the charging socket interface ››› Fig. 63.

  • Disconnect the external power supply at the charging station or wall electrical socket before touching any components.
  • Open the bonnet carefully and make sure it is held securely in place with the support prop.
  • Pull the designated manual release puller firmly ››› Fig. 63.
  • Immediately unplug the charging connector from the vehicle inlet.

DANGER If the charging connector unexpectedly remains locked, the fault may be caused by the vehicle electronics or the external charging station. The manual emergency release can make live internal contacts accessible. In this case, touching the contacts of the charging socket may result in severe burns, other physical injuries or a fatal electric shock.

  • Never touch the exposed internal contacts of the charging socket or the active charging connector under any circumstances.

Note The manual release mechanism of the charging connector should only be utilized in the event of a mechanical or electrical failure.
