cover: charging process indicator.

Fig. 62 On the inside face of the cover
of the battery charging socket: sticker with
information on the charging process display.
An integrated multi-color LED light positioned directly on the charging socket module ››› Fig. 61 (indicated by the arrow) provides a clear visual status update of the ongoing charging process.
A permanent reference sticker affixed to the inside face of the charging socket cover explains the operational meaning of the various LED signal states ››› Fig. 62.
Charging process displays:
The LED flashes
- The vehicle electrical system has successfully detected the inserted charging connector.
White LED
- 1 Flashing: communication protocols are being established between your Seat Leon and the external charging infrastructure.
The charging sequence is currently being prepared and initialized.
- Permanently on: no active charging function is taking place.
Green LED
- 2 Flashing: energy is flowing and the high-voltage traction battery is actively charging.
- 3 Remains lit: scheduled timer charging is activated.
The actual energy transfer has not yet started due to a timer delay.
- 4 Permanently on: the charging process has completed successfully without any errors.
- Flashes red: emergency charging mode operating at a reduced power level because the charging connector could not be fully identified.
Red LED
- Permanently on: a system fault has been detected within the charging circuit.
The charging process cannot be initiated or has been interrupted automatically for safety reasons.
Seek qualified technical assistance promptly if the charging status indicator permanently displays a system defect.
Charging socket lighting
To assist with plugging in cables during nighttime hours or in poorly lit environments, a localized white LED side illumination strip on the charging socket helps provide exterior orientation around the vehicle:
On
- The vehicle doors have been unlocked via the key fob.
- OR: The charging connector has just been unplugged from the vehicle charging socket.
Off
- Shortly after locking or unlocking your Seat Leon, the orientation lighting switches off automatically.
Charging process indicator lamp
While a charging session is active, status icon
is displayed on the instrument cluster screen.
White indicator: charging connector is plugged in, but no active charging process is underway.
Green indicator: charging connector is plugged in, and the charging process is actively transferring energy.
Troubleshooting
Valid for: hybrid vehicles
The electrical system is not
working
properly. Stop safely!
The central warning lamp illuminates in solid red, accompanied by a descriptive text notification on the instrument cluster display.
A fault has been registered in the high-voltage electrical network. Internal high-voltage components may have sustained damage.
Recharging the high-voltage battery is temporarily locked and disabled.
The vehicle must be brought to a halt in a secure location. Park your Seat Leon outdoors as soon as it is possible and safe to do so.- Switch off the hybrid drive system completely.
- Contact professional roadside assistance or an authorized workshop for support.
and
HV battery: Risk of fire! Stop
safely and get out immediately. Call the
emergency services.
The critical warning lamp illuminates in solid red, presented alongside a warning message on the instrument cluster display and accompanied by a continuous audible buzzer.
The core temperature of the high-voltage traction battery has exceeded safe operational limits.
If this critical emergency warning appears on your instrument cluster, observe ››› and execute the following safety steps immediately:
Stop driving immediately! Bring your Seat Leon to a controlled halt, taking full account of surrounding traffic conditions.- Select a safe parking spot outdoors, keeping a generous distance away from buildings, structures, other vehicles, covered car parks, or enclosed spaces.
- Switch on the hazard warning lights to alert approaching traffic.
- Before stepping out of the vehicle, ensure it is completely immobilized (engage the electronic parking brake and select parking lock P).
- Switch off the ignition and leave the vehicle key on the dashboard or in a clearly visible location so that emergency responders can easily access it if necessary (such as for vehicle recovery operations).
- Exit the passenger cabin promptly and verify that no other passengers or pets remain inside.
- Retreat immediately from the danger zone together with all occupants, moving to a secure location protected from active traffic (such as behind a highway guardrail).
- Contact the emergency services without delay. Never attempt to extinguish a high-voltage battery fire on your own.
If the message is hidden, the warning lamp remains
visible
.
Should an audible alert require deactivation, it can only be handled by a qualified workshop. SEAT recommends that you visit an official dealer to ensure your Seat Leon receives expert care and accurate diagnostics.
Protection functions in the event of a failure
If a serious high-voltage-battery failure occurs in your Seat Leon, the vehicle can activate additional protection functions automatically; for example, the hazard lights may switch on or the horn may sound immediately after the ignition is turned off to alert surrounding drivers and pedestrians.
DANGER If there is a risk of fire in the high-voltage battery, toxic gases may escape or components may be released from the high voltage battery system. There is a risk of serious injury, burns or lethal electric shocks when dealing with compromised high-voltage architecture.
- Park the Seat Leon safely as soon as possible , following standard protocol for behaviour in the event of an accident or fire.
- Get out of the vehicle immediately and keep a safe distance away from it under all circumstances.
- Call the fire department immediately to handle the emergency safely.
Deep discharge of the
high-voltage
battery due to prolonged parking time
The control lamp lights up red. A dedicated warning message is displayed on the instrument panel to notify the driver.
Leaving the vehicle stationary for extended periods without maintenance can cause the high-voltage battery of your Seat Leon to suffer permanent damage if left unmonitored.
- Charge the high-voltage battery immediately using an approved charging setup.
High voltage battery
discharged
The control lamp lights up in yellow, accompanied by an informative text message on the screen.
- Charge the high-voltage battery immediately to restore normal operating levels.
Low state of charge in the
high-voltage
battery
The control lamp lights up in yellow. A clear message is displayed showing the remaining driving range before complete depletion.
The high-voltage battery charge in your Seat Leon has reached the critical reserve level, requiring prompt attention.
- Charge the high-voltage battery at the earliest opportunity.
Range calculation fault
The control lamp lights up in yellow to signal a system discrepancy. A message is displayed on the central dashboard.
There is a functional fault in the driving range calculation system. Contact a specialised workshop to have the diagnostic codes read and resolved.
The charging process is not possible or has been paused
The charging process indicator light located next to the charging socket on your Seat Leon lights up red to indicate an interruption.
Before scheduling a visit to a specialist workshop, you can try the following troubleshooting solutions to resume power transfer:
- Plug the charging cable back in firmly to ensure a secure physical connection.
- Check that the charging connector is plugged in correctly and locked into position.
- Check if a specific fault code or error is displayed on the charging station screen or, depending on the equipment, on the charging cable protection device control box.
If the fault cannot be rectified through these basic steps, contact a specialist workshop immediately for professional assistance.
The charging cable protection device disconnects
If high-draw electrical devices with a separate electrical connection, such as an active cool box, are used simultaneously inside the vehicle, the integrated self-test of the protective cable device may occasionally detect an irregular current fluctuation.
- Please note the correct connection order for your Seat Leon! First connect the charging cable securely to the external power supply and only then to the vehicle charging socket.
The charging time varies
During a direct current (DC) fast charging process, the charging current is regulated and reduced automatically to protect the cells and prevent the high-voltage battery from overheating during high-output sessions.
After executing several fast charging processes in quick succession, the overall charging time may be temporarily extended as a built-in thermal management safeguard.
DANGER High-voltage components across the Seat Leon, including the battery pack and high-voltage cables, may remain live and potentially damaged. The high voltage system voltage is extremely dangerous and can cause severe thermal burns, other physical injuries and fatal electric shocks if handled improperly.
- Do not touch any exposed high voltage components under any circumstances!
