You should only deactivate the front passenger airbag if it is absolutely necessary to install a rear-facing child safety seat on the front passenger seat of your Seat Leon.
SEAT strongly recommends mounting child restraint systems on the rear passenger seats whenever possible to avoid needing to deactivate the front passenger airbag.
When the front passenger airbag is manually turned off, only that specific front passenger airbag module is deactivated. All other airbags distributed throughout the vehicle cabin remain fully active and ready to deploy.
Deactivate and activate the front passenger airbag
- Switch off the vehicle ignition completely.
- Open the front passenger-side door to access the dashboard side panel.
- Extract the removable mechanical key blade from your vehicle master key fob.
- Insert the key blade fully into the slot provided in the front passenger airbag deactivation switch module ››› Fig. 28. Approximately three-quarters of the key blade should enter, stopping when fully seated.
- Carefully turn the key to rotate the switch position to
(to deactivate) or to
(to activate). If you encounter mechanical resistance, verify that the key blade has been pushed into the slot all the way. - Close the front passenger door securely.
- When deactivating the passenger airbag, switch the ignition on and inspect the overhead console to verify that warning lamp
remains continuously lit ››› Fig. 29. - When reactivating the passenger airbag, switch the ignition on and verify that the deactivation lamp
does not light up, while the active status lamp
illuminates for 60 seconds before turning off.
DANGER Always turn off the vehicle ignition before attempting to disable or enable the front passenger airbag! Failing to do so can trigger a functional electronic fault in the vehicle's airbag control network.
WARNING
- The vehicle driver bears full personal responsibility for correctly switching the front passenger airbag on or off according to current transport requirements.
- Never leave the mechanical key inserted in the airbag deactivation switch, as it could easily suffer physical damage or inadvertently alter the airbag state while driving.
- If an airbag is deactivated for a specific transport need, make sure to reactivate it promptly as soon as adult passengers occupy the seat so that it can resume its life-saving protective function.
