The driver's front airbag is securely housed inside the steering wheel hub, while the front passenger front airbag is positioned within the passenger-side dash panel. Designated airbag locations are clearly marked with the embossed word "AIRBAG".

Upon deployment, the specialized airbag module covers pop open along designated tear seams while remaining securely attached to the steering wheel and dash panel structures, respectively ››› Fig. 26 , ››› Fig. 27.

Working in direct conjunction with the three-point seat belts, the front airbag restraint system provides front-row occupants with vital supplemental protection for the head and chest regions during a severe frontal collision.

Furthermore, in specific severe head-on impact scenarios, the curtain head airbags are also triggered simultaneously along both sides of the vehicle interior.

The internal engineering design of the airbags features calibrated vents that allow the controlled escape of propellant gases as an occupant's body presses forward into the cushion. This dynamic energy absorption protects the head and upper torso. Immediately following the impact, the airbag deflates rapidly to maintain driver visibility for steering and evacuation.

WARNING

  • The clearance and deployment volume between front-row passengers and the airbag module covers must never be restricted, cluttered, or occupied by other passengers, pets, luggage, or loose objects.
  • Supplemental airbags are engineered to provide protective deployment for a single accident only; always have deployed airbag modules completely replaced by professional technicians.
  • It is strictly prohibited to attach, mount, or glue any accessories—such as beverage cup holders, mobile device cradles, or navigation mounts—onto the padded surfaces covering the vehicle's airbag units.
