The central airbag is installed for the front seating positions and is located within the inner bolster padding of the driver's seat backrest, depending on the specific vehicle version and finish level of your Seat Leon.

The exact installation location of the central airbag is clearly marked with the embossed inscription "AIRBAG" ››› Fig. 30.

When deployed, the central airbag rapidly fills the designated safety space known as the deployment zone ››› Fig. 31. Because of this critical expansion area, never place, hang, or fix any objects within this zone.

The central airbag is engineered to deploy in the event of a severe side-impact collision or if the vehicle rolls over, effectively preventing the front occupants from colliding with each other and significantly reducing the risk of severe injury.

WARNING When triggered, the central airbag inflates at extreme velocity within milliseconds.

  • Always keep the central airbag deployment path and surrounding zone completely clear of obstructions.
  • Never attach, mount, or strap any objects to the central airbag cover or anywhere within its deployment zone.
  • Do not allow other passengers, pets, luggage, or loose items to occupy the space between the front seat occupants and the airbag deployment zone.

Make sure that all vehicle occupants, including children, strictly adhere to this safety rule.

  • Never use aftermarket upholstery or custom seat covers unless they have been explicitly tested and authorized for use in your Seat Leon. Unapproved covers can obstruct the deployment seam and prevent the central airbag from inflating correctly during an accident.

WARNING Improper handling, modification, or mechanical interference with the driver and front passenger seats can disrupt correct central airbag operation and lead to serious injuries.

  • Never remove the front seats from the vehicle frame or modify their structural internal components.
  • If the seat backrest side bolsters are subjected to excessive blunt force or heavy impacts, the central airbag may fail to deploy correctly, fail to trigger altogether, or deploy unexpectedly.
  • Have any damage to the original seat upholstery or stitched seams around the central airbag module repaired immediately by a qualified specialist workshop.
