Seat Leon >> TMS (Tyre Mobility System) puncture repair kit
The Tyre Mobility System (TMS) emergency puncture repair kit is designed to reliably seal tread punctures caused by foreign objects up to approximately 4 mm in diameter. Do not pull out or remove embedded objects, such as screws, nails, or metal fragments, from the tyre tread.
After injecting the liquid sealant into the flat tyre and inflating it with the compressor, you must check the resulting inflation pressure after driving for about 10 minutes with the engine running.
Only attempt to use the tyre mobility set if your Seat Leon is parked safely away from traffic, you are fully familiar with the emergency repair steps, and you have the complete kit on hand. If any of these conditions are not met, request professional roadside assistance immediately.
Tyre sealant must not be used under any of the following circumstances:
- If the wheel rim itself has been cracked, bent, or visibly damaged.
- In ambient outdoor temperatures dropping below -20ºC (-4ºF).
- If cuts, tears, or punctures in the tyre tread or sidewall exceed 4 mm in size.
- If the tyre has been driven on while flat or with extremely low inflation pressure, damaging the casing.
- If the printed expiration date on the sealant canister has passed.
WARNING Using an emergency roadside puncture repair kit carries inherent hazards, particularly when working near active traffic. To minimize the risk of severe injury, adhere strictly to the following safety precautions:
- Bring the vehicle to a complete stop in a safe location as quickly as possible. Park at a safe distance away from passing traffic before beginning the tyre repair procedure.
- Ensure the vehicle is standing on a firm, flat, and level surface.
- All passengers—especially children—must exit the vehicle and stand in a secure area well away from the roadside workspace.
- Switch on the hazard warning lights immediately to alert approaching motorists.
- Always turn off the engine and firmly engage the electronic parking brake to eliminate the risk of accidental vehicle roll.
- For models with automatic transmission: move the gear selector into the parking lock position P.
- For models with manual transmission: engage 1st or reverse gear.
- Use the Tyre Mobility System only if you understand and feel comfortable performing the required steps. Otherwise, call for professional roadside aid.
- Treat the puncture repair kit strictly as a temporary emergency measure to enable driving to the nearest qualified repair facility.
- Have any tyre temporarily repaired with liquid sealant inspected and replaced with a new tyre at the earliest opportunity.
WARNING A tyre injected with liquid repair sealant does not possess the same structural integrity, handling dynamics, or high-speed capability as a standard intact tyre.
- Never drive faster than 80 km/h (50 mph) when operating on a sealant-repaired tyre.
- Avoid wide-open throttle acceleration, heavy emergency braking, and aggressive cornering at high speeds.
- Drive for no more than 10 minutes at a maximum speed of 80 km/h (50 mph) before stopping in a safe area to recheck tyre pressure.
CAUTION
- The chemical sealant compound is hazardous to health; wash it off thoroughly and immediately if it comes into contact with your skin or eyes.
- Store the puncture repair kit safely inside the boot compartment, well out of the reach of children.
Environmental responsibility
Dispose of empty, used, or expired sealant bottles in full compliance with local chemical waste disposal and environmental laws.
Note
Replacement sealant canisters for your Seat Leon can be purchased from authorized SEAT service centers.
Note
Always read and follow the specific step-by-step instructions provided in the separate manual included with the Tyre Mobility System kit.
