Proper alignment of the vehicle jack head under the sill jacking point on a Seat Leon
Fig. 255 Crossbar: mounting the jack on the vehicle.

  • Position the jack from your vehicle tool kit on solid, level ground.

If the surface is soft or unstable, place a wide, rigid board under the base of the jack to distribute the weight evenly. If working on a smooth or slippery surface like tiles, place a non-slip rubber mat beneath the base to prevent movement during lifting.

  • Locate the notch or indentation along the lower sill profile marking the designated jacking point closest to the wheel you need to change ››› Fig. 254.
  • Rotate the hand crank on the jack to raise the lifting arm until the upper claw 1 ››› Fig. 255 sits directly below the reinforced jacking point on your Seat Leon.
  • Carefully align the head so that tab 1 securely engages the jacking notch on the vehicle body while ensuring the base plate 2 rests flat on the ground. The base plate 2 must sit perpendicular directly beneath support point 1.
  • Continue cranking the jack smoothly until the tyre clears the ground just enough to allow the wheel swap.

WARNING The factory-supplied jack is designed specifically for changing wheels on your Seat Leon. Under no circumstances should you use it to lift heavier vehicles or alternative heavy loads, as doing so creates a severe injury risk.

  • Always ensure the jack rests on a firm, stable base. Operating the jack on loose or slick ground can cause it to sink or slide out from under the car, creating a serious risk of injury.
  • Lift your Seat Leon exclusively with the factory-supplied jack. Alternative jacks—even those designed for other SEAT models—may not fit the mounting points properly and could slip during operation.
  • Only position the jack head precisely against the designated sill jacking points and align it vertically. Positioning the jack anywhere else can cause it to lose grip and slip out of position.
  • Never place any part of your body—such as arms, hands, or legs—underneath a vehicle supported solely by a emergency hand jack.
  • If you must perform any work under the vehicle, always secure it on certified axle stands in addition to the jack to prevent accidental collapse.
  • Never attempt to raise the vehicle if it is parked on a steep incline or while the engine is running.
  • Never start the engine while the vehicle is resting on the jack. Engine vibrations can cause the car to shift and fall off the lifting support.

NOTICE

  • Never place the jack head directly against the floor pan or unreinforced areas of the underbody. Align the jack head only at the designated sill jacking points.

Lifting the car at unapproved locations will buckle the sheet metal and cause structural underbody damage.

  • Applying weight or mechanical force to the outer side skirts, plastic trim, or lower door sills (such as stepping on them or resting heavy gear against them) can cause permanent cosmetic and structural damage. SEAT accepts no liability for damage resulting from improper contact with exterior body panels.
