Seat Leon >> Fuses
Introduction
In the complex electrical architecture of your Seat Leon, a single fuse can protect and be assigned to several different electrical components. Likewise, a single electrical component or control module may be protected by multiple overlapping fuses.
Fuses should only ever be replaced after the underlying electrical fault or short circuit causing the failure has been fully diagnosed and resolved. If a newly inserted fuse blows again shortly after installation, you must have the vehicle's electrical system inspected by a qualified specialized workshop as soon as possible.
WARNING The high voltages present within the vehicle electrical system can cause severe electrical shocks, leading to painful burns and even fatal injuries!
- Never touch the high-voltage electrical wiring or ignition system components while the system is live.
- Take extreme care during any electrical work not to cause accidental short circuits across the battery or fuse blocks.
WARNING Using incorrect or unrated replacement fuses, repairing blown fuses with wire, or bridging a live circuit without a fuse can cause an electrical fire and serious personal injury.
- Never use a fuse with a higher amperage rating. Always replace a blown fuse with a new one possessing the exact same amperage rating (identified by the same color code and numerical marking) and physical size.
- Never replace a blown fuse with a makeshift metal strip, staple, paperclip, or similar conductive object.
NOTICE
- To prevent damaging sensitive control units and the vehicle electrical system, always switch off the ignition, exterior lights, and all electrical consumers before replacing any fuse.
- Protect open fuse boxes from environmental contamination; prevent dust, moisture, and humidity from entering, as foreign particles can cause corrosion and electrical system failures.
Note There are additional auxiliary fuses located throughout your Seat Leon beyond those explicitly detailed and mapped out in this manual chapter. These complex or concealed fuses should only be serviced and replaced by an authorized specialist workshop.
Fuses inside the vehicle

Opening and closing the fuse box located below the dash panel
- Open: fold the cover downwards carefully ››› Fig. 226 to access the interior vehicle fuses.
- Close: push the cover back up into position until the retaining clips click securely into place.

NOTICE
- Always remove the interior fuse box covers with care and refit them correctly to prevent alignment issues or rattles in your Seat Leon cabin.
- Protect the opened fuse box from environmental exposure; prevent dust and moisture from entering, as dirt and humidity inside electrical fuse blocks can cause corrosion and damage to the vehicle's electrical network.
Fuses in the engine compartment

fuse box.
To open the engine compartment fuse box
- Open and secure the front bonnet ››› on page 344.
- Press the locking tabs inward to unlock and release the engine compartment fuse box cover lid ››› Fig. 227.
- Lift the cover straight up and out of the housing.
- To reinstall the cover, place it squarely onto the fuse box frame. Press down firmly on the locking tabs until they snap audibly into their locked positions.
Replace a blown fuse

Fig. 228 Image of a blown fuse.
Preparations
- Completely switch off the ignition, exterior lights, and all active electrical equipment.
- Open the corresponding interior or engine compartment fuse box.
Recognise a blown fuse
A blown fuse can be easily identified when the internal metal strip has melted, fractured, or burned through ››› Fig. 228.
- Shine a torch or flashlight directly onto the fuse terminals to clearly inspect whether the internal link has blown.
To replace a fuse
- Extract the faulty fuse using the specialized plastic puller tool.
- Replace the blown fuse with a new one possessing an identical amperage rating (matching the exact same colour coding and numerical markings) and an identical physical size.
- Reinstall the access cover or securely close the fuse box lid.

Note
- There are additional complex fuses distributed throughout your Seat Leon beyond those explicitly detailed in this reference chapter. These concealed fuses should only be replaced by an authorized specialist workshop.
- Fuse holder positions that do not contain an active circuit or fuse are intentionally omitted and do not appear in the printed allocation tables.
- Some of the electrical equipment and convenience features listed in the fuse tables pertain only to specific trim versions of the Seat Leon model range or are available as optional extras.
- Please note that the fuse assignment lists, while fully accurate at the time of publication, are subject to ongoing technical changes and updates.
