Seat Leon >> Android Auto

Requirements for Android Auto

In order to successfully run Android Auto on your Seat Leon infotainment display, the following technical requirements must be met:

  • Your mobile phone device—referred to as a smartphone from here onward—must be fully compatible with Android Auto projection protocols.
  • The smartphone must have the official Android Auto application installed and updated.
  • If you are not connecting via Android Auto Wireless, the smartphone must be linked directly to the vehicle's infotainment system using a USB cable supporting active data transmission.
  • The USB cable used for connection should ideally be an original cable provided directly by the smartphone manufacturer.

For Android Auto Wireless operation: both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi signal transmitters on the smartphone must be turned on and active.

Establish connection

When connecting a smartphone to your car for the first time, carefully follow the setup instructions that appear on both the central infotainment system display and your smartphone screen.

All prerequisite conditions must be fully satisfied before Android Auto can be launched.

To launch Android Auto manually:

  • Press MENU > Full Link on the screen to access the main Full Link overview menu.
  • Press Android Auto to establish a stable communication connection with your smartphone.

Disconnecting

  • While in active Android Auto mode, press the Seat Leon Android Auto return icon button icon to navigate back to the Full Link main menu.
  • Press the disconnect button to safely interrupt the active connection.

Special characteristics

During an active Android Auto connection inside your Seat Leon, the following operational characteristics apply:

  • An active Android Auto device can maintain a simultaneous Bluetooth connection (using the Hands-Free Profile / HFP) with the vehicle's infotainment system.
  • It is possible to operate standard phone functions directly through Android Auto. If the Android Auto device is simultaneously linked via Bluetooth to the car, the infotainment system's native telephone functions remain fully usable as well.
  • Simultaneous navigation using both the factory built-in navigation system and the Android Auto navigation app is not supported. Whichever route guidance session was started last will automatically interrupt the previously active route.
  • Active telephone call metadata and media track information can be shown on the digital instrument cluster display screen.
  • Turn-by-turn navigation instructions originating from compatible smartphone map apps are mirrored onto the instrument cluster screen.
  • You can easily accept or reject incoming phone calls, as well as hang up ongoing conversations, using the buttons on the multifunction steering wheel.

Voice control

  • Press the voice button Seat Leon steering wheel voice control button icon on the multifunction steering wheel briefly to activate the native Seat Leon infotainment voice recognition system.
  • Press and hold this same button to launch Google Assistant voice control on your connected smartphone.

Note

  • The regional availability of smartphone projection technologies depends on country specifications and local market conditions.
  • Comprehensive information regarding technical prerequisites, compatible mobile devices, certified applications, and their availability can be found on the official SEAT (www.seat.com) and Android Auto websites, or by consulting an authorized SEAT dealership.
