Seat Leon >> Description of the Park assist system
The core hardware and interface components of the Park Assist system comprise the high-precision ultrasonic sensors integrated into the front and rear bumpers, the dedicated infotainment system
button used to engage or disengage the feature, and the clear visual guidance messages displayed on the digital instrument cluster screen.
Prerequisites for parking
- Traction control (TCS) must remain active and switched on throughout the procedure.
- Driving speed when passing alongside potential parking spaces: do not exceed approximately 50 km/h (31 mph).
- Maintain a lateral distance of between 0.5 and 2.0 metres when driving past the intended parking space.
- Required space length for parallel parking: total length of your vehicle plus 0.8 metres.
- Required space width for perpendicular bay parking: total width of your vehicle plus 0.8 metres.
- Do not exceed a speed of approximately 7 km/h (4 mph) during active maneuvering. The vehicle will execute an automatic braking intervention only once if this speed limit is exceeded. If you exceed the maximum threshold more than once, the Park Assist system automatically deactivates.
Requirements for leaving the parking space (only for parallel parking)
- Traction control (TCS) must remain switched on and ready for regulation.
- Minimum space length for unparking: total length of your vehicle plus 0.5 metres.
- Do not exceed approximately 7 km/h (4 mph) while maneuvering out of the parking space.
Prematurely stopping or automatically interrupting the manoeuvres for parking or exiting a parking space
The Park Assist system in your Seat Leon immediately interrupts an in-progress parking or unparking manoeuvre in any of the following events:
- Pressing the system toggle button within the central infotainment interface via
> Assistants > Parking > Park assist system. - Exceeding the permitted maneuvering speed of roughly 7 km/h (4 mph) more than once.
- The driver manually grabs or takes active control of the steering wheel.
- The parking sequence exceeds a duration of 6 minutes after the automatic steering function is initiated.
- An internal fault occurs within the system, rendering it temporarily unavailable.
- Traction control (TCS) is manually deactivated by the driver.
- Active wheel slip regulation is triggered by TCS or Electronic Stability Control (ESC).
- The driver's door is opened while moving.
To restart an interrupted manoeuvre, verify that all underlying conditions are resolved and press the
button in the infotainment system menu again.
Automatic braking intervention to avoid exceeding the speed limit
To prevent exceeding the maximum permitted maneuvering speed of approximately 7 km/h (4 mph) while entering or exiting a space, automatic brake intervention may be applied.
Following an automatic braking event, the maneuver to enter or exit the selected space may continue seamlessly once speed drops.
However, the system will only trigger automatic braking once per parking or unparking attempt. If the speed threshold of approximately 7 km/h (4 mph) is exceeded a second time, the automated operation is aborted entirely.
Special characteristics
The Park Assist system operates within specific technical parameters inherent to automated parking assistance. Consequently, it cannot be engaged to park or exit spaces located on sharp bends or steep inclines.
While maneuvering into or out of a space, a brief acoustic chime prompts the driver to change between forward and reverse gear positions as required. During multi-step maneuvers, the assistant instructs you to select the next gear when Park Pilot emits a continuous acoustic tone indicating an obstacle distance of 30 cm or less.
When Park Assist rotates the steering wheel while your Seat Leon is stationary, the instrument cluster displays the symbol
. Keep the brake pedal depressed firmly while this indicator remains illuminated on the dash screen so the wheels can turn freely while stopped. This allows the system to execute the maneuver using fewer total directional shifts.
Trailer mode
The Park Assist feature cannot be activated if a factory-fitted towing bracket is electrically connected to a trailer harness.
After changing a wheel
If the vehicle fails to align correctly in parking spaces after replacing a wheel or fitting spare tires, the overall circumference of the new wheel assembly may vary slightly, requiring system recalibration. This adaptation process takes place automatically while driving. Driving slowly at around 20 km/h (12 mph) while executing several turns in both directions for a few minutes will accelerate the recalibration process.
