Seat Leon >> Introduction

Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) on your Seat Leon helps you maintain a constant, preselected driving speed effortlessly. When your vehicle approaches slower traffic or another vehicle travelling ahead, the ACC system detects it automatically and adjusts your speed to maintain a safe following distance set by you.

Does my vehicle have ACC?

Your Seat Leon is equipped with Adaptive Cruise Control if it features the dedicated ACC control buttons on the multifunction steering wheel, or if the configuration menu is accessible within the central infotainment system.

Speed range

The ACC system actively regulates vehicle speed across a broad range between 20 and 210 km/h (15 and 130 mph).

When Electric mode is engaged and active in hybrid powertrain variants, the operational ACC speed range may vary.

If your vehicle is fitted with an automatic transmission, the ACC can bring your Seat Leon to a complete standstill if the vehicle directly in front of you stops.

If your car features a manual gearbox, you must pay close attention to manual gear changes. The ACC could switch off automatically if engine revolutions get too high or drop too low.

Driving with ACC

You can override the Adaptive Cruise Control system at any time. Pressing the service brake pedal interrupts ACC operation immediately. If you press the accelerator pedal, speed regulation is temporarily suspended during acceleration and will resume automatically once you release the throttle.

Driver intervention prompt

Seat Leon digital instrument cluster display showing a driver intervention prompt icon for ACC ACC is subject to certain technical limitations inherent to radar sensor technology. This means that the driver must remain ready to take full control of vehicle speed and distance from other road users in certain traffic situations.

In such instances, the digital instrument cluster display will explicitly instruct you to intervene by applying the foot brake, accompanied by an audible warning chime.

Radar sensors

The ACC relies on advanced front radar technology. Always read its maintenance instructions and take note of its operational limitations.

WARNING The technology behind ACC cannot overcome inherent system limitations or bypass the laws of physics. If operated negligently, carelessly, or involuntarily, it can cause severe accidents and personal injuries. This driver assistance system is never a replacement for continuous driver awareness and concentration.

  • Always remain fully prepared to brake or accelerate manually at a moment's notice.
  • If you depress the accelerator pedal, the ACC will stop regulating speed. Consequently, it will neither apply the brakes nor request any braking intervention while the throttle is pressed.
  • Always adapt your driving speed and safety following distance relative to the vehicle in front to match prevailing visibility, weather conditions, road surface quality, and traffic flow.
  • Do not use Adaptive Cruise Control in poor visibility conditions, on steep mountainous grades, on winding, curvy roads, or on slippery surfaces.
  • Never use ACC when driving off-road, on unpaved dirt tracks, or rough terrain.
  • The system may fail to react in time to stationary obstacles—such as the tail end of a traffic jam queue—particularly when travelling at high cruising speeds. React early enough to avoid hazardous situations.
  • The system may not react reliably to already stopped vehicles sharing your lane. You must react early enough yourself in these situations.
  • The system does not detect or react to pedestrians, animals, or vehicles crossing your path or approaching from the opposite direction.
  • If you are driving your Seat Leon with a temporary spare wheel fitted, the ACC system could deactivate automatically. Switch off the system when starting off in this condition.
  • Apply the service brakes immediately if the ACC does not decelerate the vehicle strongly enough.
  • Brake immediately whenever a driver intervention instruction prompt appears on the instrument cluster display.
  • If your vehicle continues to move involuntarily after a driver intervention prompt has sounded, apply the foot brake to secure the car.
  • The brake pedal may move downwards automatically during automated braking interventions. Take care never to position your foot underneath or behind the pedal.

Note If the Adaptive Cruise Control system does not operate as described in this chapter, do not use it until it has been inspected by a specialized workshop. Visiting an authorized SEAT dealership for diagnostic service is strongly recommended.
