Seat Leon >> SEAT Drive Profiles
Introduction
The SEAT Drive Profile function allows the driver to adapt various technical characteristics of the vehicle's onboard systems to match the current driving situation, personal comfort preferences, or an economical driving style. Among the core systems that can be dynamically adjusted are the suspension damping, steering weight, engine response, and air conditioning management.
Depending on the specific equipment installed in your Seat Leon, a variety of drive profiles can be selected via the infotainment system. The degree of influence each profile exerts on the vehicle's behavior scales according to your model's equipment level.
Engine
Depending on the profile selected, the engine of your Seat Leon responds more aggressively or more smoothly when you press the accelerator pedal.
In models with an automatic transmission, gear change timing shifts to higher or lower engine revolutions. The Eco profile activates the energy-saving Inertia (coasting) function to reduce fuel consumption. Depending on how the accelerator pedal is released, the other drive profiles will also activate inertia coasting as long as the gear selector lever is not in the S position. When the vehicle is turned on again after a shutdown, the efficiency function is automatically enabled by default to optimize fuel economy.
On models with a manual gearbox, the ECO profile modifies gear change recommendations on the display to encourage a more efficient driving style.
Dynamic chassis control (DCC)
Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) continuously adapts the damping characteristics of the suspension system to match road surface conditions and current driving dynamics—such as speed, acceleration, and steering wheel angle—according to the selected drive profile. The overall dynamic behavior of the vehicle is also adjusted to improve cornering grip and agility.
Within the customizable Individual profile, you can also fine-tune the DCC damping level precisely to your taste. In the unlikely event of a fault in the DCC system, an advisory message will appear on the instrument cluster display: > Fault: damping adjustment.
Steering
The operational feedback and weighting of the electromechanical power steering are modified and adapted to match the active drive profile, ensuring optimal steering feel for every situation.
Air conditioning
The Climatronic automatic climate control system can operate in an energy-saving Eco mode, restricting power draw to minimize fuel consumption.
Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
Depending on the chosen drive profile, the acceleration and following-distance performance of the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) system adapts to favor either a sportier response or maximum fuel efficiency.
PreCrash system
The proactive occupant protection PreCrash system adjusts its sensitivity and trigger parameters in accordance with the active vehicle configuration profile.
The performance-oriented drive profile features specialized calibration settings designed to optimize response for spirited driving conditions.
Selecting a drive profile
The drive profile on your Seat Leon can be conveniently selected whenever the ignition is switched on, regardless of whether the vehicle is parked stationary or actively moving.
Selecting a drive profile
- Press the designated function button
> Drive Profile to display the list of available profiles on the screen. - OR: When the main Infotainment System display is turned off, simply tapping directly on the dedicated Drive Profile icon will immediately display the selectable drive profiles.
Displaying the drive profile information
- To view more detailed information about the parameters affected by the currently selected drive profile, press the Information option within the infotainment system menu.
Kick-down
The integrated kick-down feature is engineered to unleash maximum available acceleration whenever sudden overtaking or emergency power is needed.
Even if the fuel-saving Eco profile is currently selected in the Drive Profile settings, pressing the accelerator pedal firmly past the mechanical resistance point will cause the engine management system to override eco mode and deliver maximum acceleration for your vehicle.
WARNING Adjusting or changing the active drive profile while driving can easily distract your attention from surrounding traffic and lead to serious accidents.
- Always keep your primary focus on the road and drive in a responsible, attentive manner.
Characteristics of drive profiles
The icon corresponding to the active drive profile is displayed at all times in the upper central section of the instrument cluster, as well as on the central Infotainment System display when it is switched off.
Places your Seat Leon in an efficient, low-consumption state, facilitating an economical driving style that conserves fuel and reduces carbon emissions.
A balanced and smooth drive profile. The vehicle's chassis and powertrain component settings provide optimum ride comfort, making it ideal for daily commuting and long highway trips.
Drive profile tailored for a dynamic, dynamic, and precise driving style. The component settings deliver firmer steering weight, a stiffer running gear setup, and crisp, direct engine response.
Personalised drive profile mode. Allows you to configure individual system settings separately to match your preferred driving style.
WARNING Your vehicle speed and overall driving style should always be adapted to match ambient visibility, current weather, and road traffic conditions.
Note
- Regardless of which drive profile was active when the ignition was turned off, key vehicle propulsion systems will default to standard Comfort settings upon restarting. To re-engage a different drive profile, use the selection menu on the infotainment system display.
- Vehicle speed and driving style must always be adjusted to suit current road grip, weather conditions, and traffic flow.
- Selecting the ECO drive profile is not recommended when towing a trailer or hauling heavy loads with your Seat Leon.
