Seat Leon >> Stationary air conditioning

Introduction

Valid for: hybrid vehicles.

With the advanced stationary air conditioning system in your plug-in hybrid Seat Leon, you can conveniently cool, ventilate, and heat the vehicle interior while the car is parked. During freezing winter mornings, you can also pre-demist the windscreen and leave it completely free of ice and light snow before you even step outside.

The stationary climate control is powered directly via an external charging socket if the vehicle is currently plugged into a power source, or drawn from the high-voltage hybrid battery otherwise. This sophisticated system can be easily programmed, scheduled, and monitored directly through the central infotainment system or remotely via the My SEAT App on your smartphone.

You can find detailed information about the mobile app, its regional availability, technical requirements for seamless connectivity, and compatible mobile devices on the official internet portal.

NOTICE Never place fresh food, medicines, or other temperature-sensitive objects close to the active air vents inside your Seat Leon. Food, pharmaceuticals, and other items susceptible to heat or cold damage may be ruined or rendered completely unsuitable for use by the powerful streams of conditioned air coming directly from the vents.

Note Using the stationary air conditioning without connecting the high-voltage charging cable will draw energy from the battery and slightly reduce the electric driving range of your vehicle. Furthermore, at extreme exterior temperatures, the maximum heating or cooling output of the stationary air conditioning may occasionally be insufficient to reach your exact desired cabin temperature instantly.

Managing the stationary air conditioning

Valid for: hybrid vehicles.

The advanced stationary air conditioning system on your plug-in hybrid Seat Leon operates reliably to pre-condition the cabin, ensuring optimal comfort before you even step inside, provided that the high-voltage battery possesses sufficient electrical charge.

You have full flexibility because the stationary air conditioning can be utilized seamlessly even without the charging connector being plugged into an external power source. In this scenario, the climate control system draws all the required electrical energy directly from the onboard high-voltage hybrid battery to heat or cool the cabin.

Setting the desired temperature

  • Navigate to and open the infotainment system's dedicated Stationary air conditioning menu on your Seat Leon dashboard display.
  • Tap on the Air conditioning option to access the primary climate control settings.
  • Set the desired cabin temperature using the on-screen controls and selectors provided in the interface.

Switching on the stationary air conditioning

It can be switched on in the following ways:

  • Press the immediate on icon Seat Leon stationary air conditioning immediate start icon in the infotainment system in the Infotainment system while the vehicle is switched off and parked. During immediate air conditioning operation, the interior of your Seat Leon reaches the pre-set temperature within a maximum timeframe of 30 minutes.
  • Press the immediate on/off button conveniently located right within the My SEAT App on your connected smartphone.
  • Activate it automatically by setting up and scheduling a specific departure time either directly inside the My SEAT App or through the infotainment system in the Stationary air conditioning menu.

Switching off the stationary air conditioning

It can be switched off in the following ways:

  • Press the immediate on/off button in the My SEAT App to halt climate control remotely.
  • Press the immediate on/off icon directly on the infotainment system screen while the vehicle remains switched off.
  • Press the dedicated air conditioning off button found inside the Air conditioning menu of the infotainment system while the vehicle is off.
  • Allow the system to switch off automatically a few minutes after your scheduled departure time has passed.
  • The system will also shut down automatically if the charge level of your Seat Leon's high-voltage battery drops excessively during operation to preserve driving range.

Note

  • Various operational sounds and mechanical noises may be heard while the stationary air conditioning is running, which are entirely normal and related to compressor and fan activity.
  • When outside humidity is exceptionally high and ambient temperatures are low, normal condensation from the climate control system may evaporate when the stationary air conditioning is active. In this scenario, harmless steam or mist may become visible coming out from underneath the vehicle. This occurrence is completely normal and does not indicate a fault or defect in your Seat Leon.

Programming the stationary air conditioning

✓ Valid for: hybrid vehicles.

The advanced stationary air conditioning system in your plug-in hybrid Seat Leon can be easily programmed directly within the Infotainment system for a specific, scheduled departure time. This allows you to pre-set and fine-tune the desired temperature of the vehicle interior precisely for your planned departure time, ensuring optimal comfort as soon as you enter the car.

Drawing on your specified target temperature, your Seat Leon intelligently calculates the exact duration the stationary climate control needs to run in order to reach that comfortable temperature right on schedule. The maximum pre-operation running time for the stationary air conditioning is approximately 30 minutes prior to your designated departure time.

Air conditioning the vehicle for departure

  • Open the dedicated Stationary air conditioning menu on your central touchscreen display.
  • Press the Departure option to open the integrated timer menu.
  • Set your desired scheduled departure time using the on-screen time selectors.
  • Activate the timer function using the selection checkbox.

The earliest scheduled departure time currently configured is displayed prominently in the infotainment system's departure menu, where it can also be quickly switched on or off as needed.

The stationary air conditioning switches off automatically

  • After approximately 30 minutes if the vehicle is being air-conditioned using the "Air condition now" feature while the ignition remains switched off.
  • After approximately 15 minutes if the drive system has not been turned on within one hour following the scheduled departure time.
  • Immediately when the state of charge of the vehicle's high-voltage battery drops excessively, safeguarding enough energy for driving.

Stationary air conditioning with additional electrical comfort consumers

If your Seat Leon is scheduled to be pre-conditioned before departure, various auxiliary electrical comfort features—such as seat heating, steering wheel heating, or the heated rear window—can also be configured to switch on automatically ahead of time. Depending on your specific vehicle equipment level, these electrical comfort consumers are activated exclusively at low ambient temperatures.

To enable and configure the use of these comfort features:

  • Open the Stationary air conditioning menu on your dashboard.
  • Tap on the Air conditioning section.
  • Select the specific seats whose heating comfort consumers should be connected along with the stationary air conditioning. Only these chosen seats will be warmed up prior to the departure time.
  • To turn on the window heating before your departure, activate the Automatic window heating function using the toggle.

The maximum pre-operation runtime for these electrical comfort consumers is approximately 10 minutes before the scheduled departure time.

If you choose to switch on the climate control immediately, these electrical comfort consumers will also be activated automatically depending on your vehicle's specific equipment configuration.

Immediate activation of the rear window heating

The heated windscreen and rear window can be switched on or off directly using the My SEAT App on your smartphone, entirely independent of whether the broader stationary air conditioning system is currently running.

Air-conditioning the vehicle after unlocking it

  • Open the infotainment system's Stationary air conditioning menu.
  • Press Seat Leon stationary air conditioning settings gear icon in infotainment display Settings to adjust operational parameters.
  • Check the Air condition the vehicle after unlocking checkbox by tapping it.

Once enabled, your Seat Leon will automatically condition the cabin interior for 5 minutes immediately upon unlocking the doors.

Air conditioning the vehicle during high-voltage charging

While the high-voltage battery of your plug-in hybrid Seat Leon is plugged in and charging—regardless of whether you are using alternating current (AC) or direct current (DC)—the vehicle can still be pre-conditioned before your scheduled departure time.

This preference and its scheduling can be easily adjusted and managed right inside the infotainment system within the Stationary air conditioning menu.

Note When performing high-voltage charging at a lower power rating using alternating current (AC), the charging process may be paused or interrupted under certain conditions due to the high energy demand required by the system to effectively air-condition the interior.

Check the schedule

Whenever the ignition is switched off, the infotainment system conveniently displays the next active scheduled time along with all currently enabled climate control functions for quick verification.
