The driver and front passenger seats of your Seat Leon feature built-in electric heating with three distinct warmth levels.

Turning on the seat heating

You can turn on the front seat heating through several convenient methods:

  • Tap the seat heating symbol located in the main menu: Seats > Air conditioning.
  • Tap the dedicated Climabar shortcut symbol Seat Leon Climabar seat heating icon ››› Fig. 114.
  • Tap with two fingers simultaneously directly on touch zones 1 (for the driver) and 2 (for the front passenger) on the temperature bar ››› Fig. 114.

Controlling seat heating

  • Press the corresponding seat function button once to switch on the heating directly to maximum intensity (Level 3).
  • Press the function button for the corresponding seat repeatedly to cycle through the heating levels until your desired warmth setting is selected.
  • To turn off seat heating, press the corresponding seat icon repeatedly until no indicator LEDs remain lit.

The seat heating switches off automatically if the system detects that the seat is no longer occupied. The corresponding visual indicator on the infotainment display turns grey after approximately 2 seconds. If a passenger sits back down while the drive system remains active, the seat heating turns back on automatically at the previously selected level.

You can also manually turn on the seat heating even when a seat is unoccupied.

Smart heated seat

Depending on equipment specification, your Seat Leon may include an intelligent smart seat heating feature that automatically activates and regulates driver and front passenger seat heating for enhanced interior comfort.

The heating output for both the driver and front passenger seats can be tailored independently to suit individual preferences. For the driver, system behavior and heating preferences can also be saved directly under the registered user profile.

To utilize the smart seat heating function, the SEAT CONNECT personalization service must first be enabled in the vehicle settings.

  • To enable or disable the feature, open the seat heating submenu and press the Automatic heating button located directly below the image of the corresponding seat ››› Fig. 117.

The smart heated seats system goes through an initial learning phase to analyze and adapt to your personal usage habits. The start of this adaptive process is indicated by the status message Learning 0 %, which appears directly above the automatic heating toggle button.

Throughout this phase, the displayed percentage will steadily increase until the learning process reaches 100% completion.

To ensure the system learns your preferences accurately, make sure to use seat heating level 3 (maximum output) during the initial adaptation period.

For optimal autonomous calibration, it is recommended to operate the seat heating across varying ambient outside temperatures while the system is learning.

Note that no preference data is recorded or learned while stationary auxiliary air conditioning is active.

Once the learning cycle reaches 100 %, automatic mode engages fully. Active automatic operation is indicated by an "A" symbol displayed next to the corresponding seat button on the permanent climate bar at the bottom of the screen.

You can adjust or override the heating settings at any time. If you make a manual adjustment while automatic mode is active, the system displays the text Optimising and incorporates your manual setting (such as changing the temperature level) into its adaptive algorithm for future operation.

To reset the adaptive process and restart the smart learning period from the beginning, navigate to Settings > Reset driver/passenger profile in the seat heating menu of your Seat Leon.

Tap Seat Leon smart seat heating information button icon to open detailed information regarding how this intelligent feature operates.

Cases in which seat heating should not be switched on

Do not turn on the electric seat heating if any of the following conditions or circumstances apply:

  • The seat is occupied by an individual or passenger with a reduced or limited perception of pain and temperature.
  • The seat is currently unoccupied by any passenger.
  • An aftermarket seat cover or protective padding has been fitted over the seat.
  • A child safety seat or booster seat has been installed on the passenger seat.
  • The seat upholstery or internal cushion fabric is noticeably wet or damp.
  • The outdoor ambient temperature or cabin interior temperature is higher than +25º C (77º F).

WARNING Children, elderly passengers, and individuals who—due to medication, paralysis, sensory loss, or chronic medical conditions (such as diabetes)—cannot properly perceive heat or pain, or have impaired temperature sensitivity, may suffer severe skin burns to their back, buttocks, or legs when using the electric seat heating system.

  • Individuals with restricted pain sensitivity or impaired temperature perception thresholds must never operate or use the seat heating elements.
  • If you notice any unusual temperature spikes, burning smells, or malfunctions in the heating elements, have the system inspected by a specialist workshop immediately.

WARNING Operating the heater when the upholstery or interior seat cushion fabric is damp or saturated with liquid can severely interfere with electrical operation, significantly increasing the risk of thermal burns or short circuits.

  • Always confirm that the seat cushion and backrest upholstery are fully dry before activating the seat heating system.
  • Never sit on the heated seats while wearing clothing that is soaked, wet, or damp.
  • Do not leave damp coats, wet towels, or rain-soaked clothing resting on the seats while heating is active.
  • Avoid spilling liquids or beverages on the seat cushions.

NOTICE

  • To prevent tearing or fracturing the internal electrical heating elements inside the seats of your Seat Leon, avoid kneeling on the seat cushions or applying excessive concentrated pressure onto a single spot of the seat base or backrest.
  • Spilled liquids, sharp items, and heavy insulating materials (such as thick aftermarket seat covers or child safety seats) can trap heat and permanently damage the underlying seat heating grid.
  • If you detect unusual burning odors or smoke, turn off the seat heating system immediately and have it thoroughly inspected by an authorized dealership or specialized workshop.
  • If the original factory seat upholstery is removed and replaced with non-approved materials, the seat heating system may overheat, fail to distribute warmth evenly, or suffer operational limitations.

For the sake of the environment

Keep the electric seat heating switched on only for as long as needed to reach a comfortable temperature. Leaving high-power heating elements running unnecessarily increases electrical load and fuel consumption.

Note Please keep the following operating parameters in mind for the smart heated seats feature on your Seat Leon:

  • The system may automatically reset its accumulated learning data if the recorded preference patterns yield unsatisfactory comfort levels.
  • A separate, individual learning cycle is required for the driver's seat for each user profile registered in the vehicle.
  • The front passenger seat system learns usage habits independently of whichever user profile is currently active.
  • On hybrid models of the Seat Leon, using stationary auxiliary climate control while connected to external power sources or running high-draw electrical equipment may extend the time needed for smart heating adaptation.
