Seat Leon >> Introduction

Depending on your vehicle's specific equipment variant, the heating, ventilation, and climate control system on your Seat Leon includes:

  • 1-zone Climatronic: heats, ventilates, cools, and dehumidifies the passenger compartment as a single, unified climate zone.
  • 3-zone Climatronic: heats, ventilates, cools, and dehumidifies cabin air across 3 independently controllable climate zones (driver side, front passenger side, and rear passenger seats).

You can turn on the climate control system using several intuitive control pathways:

  • Touch the main switch symbol Seat Leon climate control system power button icon within the central infotainment climate menu display.
  • OR: tap any direct function control button within the air conditioning screen layout (such as temperature selection sliders, fan speed controls, etc.).

Available climate features, submenus, and touch tabs vary depending on installed factory equipment and trim level.

Economic use of the air conditioning

Operating the climate control compressor draws additional power, slightly increasing fuel consumption in combustion engine models or electrical power draw in hybrid variants driving in EV mode.

The air conditioning operates at peak efficiency when all side windows and the panoramic sunroof remain fully closed. However, if the interior of your Seat Leon has accumulated extreme heat after sitting parked under direct sunlight, you can cool the cabin down much faster by opening the windows and sunroof for a short moment before starting off.

Operating the air conditioning with voice controls

Depending on equipment specifications, select heating, ventilation, and temperature adjustment functions can be operated hands-free using natural voice commands.

Passenger recognition function

An intelligent occupant detection system monitors seat occupancy across the front passenger and rear bench areas, automatically tailoring climate output and throttling airflow in empty zones to optimize vehicle energy efficiency.

With the ignition switched on, pressure sensors determine whether each individual seat is occupied.

When airflow output is reduced in an unoccupied zone, the system indicates energy-saving status as follows:

  • Front passenger area: the front passenger temperature setting display shows the eco symbol Seat Leon front passenger climate eco mode status icon instead of the numerical target temperature value.
  • Rear seat zone: the rear temperature display unit shows the ECO text indicator instead of a set temperature. This reduced climate mode is also reflected on the rear center console climate controls.

Dust and pollen filter

An advanced cabin air filter incorporating an activated carbon layer removes dust, pollen, fine particles, and airborne pollutants before outside air enters the interior.

The dust and pollen filter cartridge must be replaced at regular maintenance intervals to maintain optimal airflow rates and preventing HVAC system degradation.

If driving frequently through highly polluted, dusty, or agricultural environments, replace the filter element sooner than scheduled maintenance guidelines suggest.

Air vents

To ensure effective heating, rapid cooling, and balanced airflow throughout the interior of your Seat Leon, keep the primary dashboard air vents open and unobstructed.

In addition to the main adjustable vents, non-adjustable air outlets are integrated beneath the windshield line, inside the footwells, and along the rear cabin floor areas.

WARNING Misted, fogged, or iced-over windows severely impair outward visibility, increasing the risk of serious accidents.

  • Always clear all ice, frost, and snow from every window pane before driving, ensuring the glass remains completely unfogged for clear 360-degree road visibility.
  • Never drive the vehicle if outward visibility through any window is compromised.
  • Utilize the A/C compressor and heated rear window functions to clear cabin moisture and prevent window fogging.
  • Avoid leaving air-recirculation mode active for extended periods. When the cooling compressor is switched off, continuous recirculation traps humidity, causing the glass to fog over rapidly.
  • Deactivate internal air recirculation mode as soon as ambient air quality permits.

NOTICE Perishable food items, sensitive pharmaceuticals, and temperature-sensitive goods can spoil quickly if exposed to direct hot or cold airflow from the vents.

  • Never place food, medicines, or heat-sensitive belongings directly in front of active air vents.

Note

  • When the A/C cooling compressor is manually turned off, incoming fresh air from outside is no longer dehumidified. To prevent moisture buildup and interior window misting, SEAT recommends keeping the cooling system active. Press the A/C touch button to activate compressor operation; the indicator light will illuminate to confirm function.
  • Maximum heating output for clearing ice and heavy condensation from the windscreen becomes available only after the engine coolant reaches normal operating temperature.
  • Keep the exterior air intake plenum located below the windscreen wiper cowl clean and clear of leaves, snow, ice, and debris to ensure unimpeded airflow and prevent interior glass fogging.
  • Air drawn through the cabin flows out through dedicated ventilation extraction slots built into the rear luggage compartment. Avoid blocking or stacking cargo against these interior vent openings.
  • Run the air conditioning compressor for at least a few minutes once a month to circulate refrigerant, lubricate internal compressor seals, and prevent system leaks. If you notice a reduction in cooling performance, visit an Authorised Technical Service to inspect the system.
  • Under severe engine loads or high temperature operating conditions, the climate control system may temporarily disengage the A/C compressor to prioritize engine cooling.
