Seat Leon >> Front seats

Introduction

WARNING Always read and carefully observe all safety instructions and recommendations provided in the dedicated chapter covering the correct sitting position for all vehicle occupants.

WARNING Incorrect or improper seat adjustment while driving may lead to unexpected loss of vehicle control, accidents, and severe personal injuries.

  • Only adjust the front seats when the vehicle is completely stationary, because the seat structure could shift unexpectedly while traveling and cause you to lose control of your Seat Leon. Furthermore, adopting an incorrect posture while adjusting seats on the move is dangerous.
  • Always adjust the height, longitudinal position, and inclination angle of the front seats strictly when their mechanical and physical movement range is entirely unobstructed.
  • Make sure there are no loose objects, bags, or feet in the seat adjustment area.
  • Always verify that the floor rails, movement tracks, and locking mechanisms of the seats are clean and free of debris.

WARNING Incorrectly installing seat upholstery, cushions, or aftermarket covers might cause an accidental, unintended activation of the electrical seat adjustment switches and make the seat move unexpectedly while driving.

This unexpected movement might cause a sudden loss of control of your Seat Leon and result in dangerous accidents or injuries. Moreover, the sensitive electrical wiring and control components of the front seats might be permanently damaged.

  • Never attach, tuck in, or place seat upholstery, pads, or protective covers directly over the electric adjustment control switches.
  • Never use aftermarket upholstery or seat covers that have not been explicitly tested and authorised for use with the side airbag-equipped seats of your vehicle.

NOTICE Items with sharp edges, hard buckles, or protruding metallic fasteners can easily scratch and damage the seat upholstery.

  • Do not rub or abrade the seat surfaces with sharp objects.

Sharp items, such as heavy zips, metal rivets on clothing, studded belts, or reinforced buttons, can easily tear or scratch the leather and fabric surfaces.

Uncovered hook-and-loop (Velcro) fasteners can also cause severe snags and surface damage if they brush against the fabric.

Manual adjustment of the front seats

  1. Pull the lower release lever upward to slide the seat forward or backward to your preferred legroom. The seat locking pins must engage securely into the track when the lever is released!
  2. Pump the side height lever up or down repeatedly to adjust the seat cushion height to your eye level, using multiple strokes if necessary.
  3. Without placing heavy body force against the seat backrest, turn the side rotary handwheel to adjust the backrest angle smoothly.
  4. To adjust the mechanical lumbar support curve, move the side lever back and forth until the required lumbar firmness and support position is achieved.

  1. Adjust the pneumatic or electric lumbar support: press the multi-way button according to your desired curvature and height position.
  2. Seat forwards and backwards: press the main horizontal control switch forwards or backwards.

Seat cushion height up and down: Press the rear portion of the switch upward or downward. To adjust the tilt angle of the seat cushion base independently, press the front edge of the switch upward or downward.

  3. Backrest angle adjustment (more upright or reclined): press the vertical switch forwards or backwards.

The customized seat position will be saved automatically in your active SEAT CONNECT user profile when the engine ignition is switched off.

WARNING Using the electric front seats carelessly or without paying due attention can cause serious pinching and crushing injuries.

  • The power front seats can also be adjusted electrically even when the engine ignition is switched off. Never leave a child, pet, or any other person who may require assistance unattended inside your Seat Leon.
  • In the event of an unexpected emergency movement, electrical seat adjustment can be stopped immediately by pressing any seat control switch or door button.

NOTICE To avoid damaging the internal electric motors, wiring looms, and delicate control components of the seats, please refrain from kneeling directly on the seat cushion or applying concentrated, sharp pressure at a single point on the upholstered seat base and backrest.

Note

  • It may temporarily not be possible to adjust the seats electrically if the main 12-volt vehicle battery charge level is very low.
  • If the engine is started while the power seats are currently moving to a stored memory position, the adjustment cycle will pause and stop instantly for safety.

Note When changing between different user profiles, a notification warning will be displayed on the central infotainment system screen during the entire time that the power seat is moving automatically to the saved driver position. This automatic movement can be halted instantly by pressing the stop button on the touchscreen display.
