Seat Leon >> Sunroof
Introduction
The panoramic glass sunroof of your Seat Leon only functions when the engine ignition is switched on. However, once the ignition has been switched off, you can still continue to open, tilt, or close the sunroof for a few minutes provided neither the driver's door nor the front passenger door has been opened.
WARNING If the sliding sunroof is operated negligently or without paying proper attention, it can cause severe crushing injuries.
- Always open or close the sunroof and its interior sun blind only when you are certain no person or body part is in their path of movement.
- Never leave the vehicle key inside the cabin when exiting the car.
- Never leave a child or any other vulnerable person who may require assistance alone in the vehicle, especially if they have access to the vehicle key. If they operate the controls unattended, they could lock the doors, turn on the ignition, start the engine, and accidentally activate the panoramic sunroof mechanism.
- Remember that after switching off the ignition, it is still possible to operate the sunroof for a short period of time as long as neither front side door is opened.
NOTICE
- To prevent mechanical damage to the glass drive mechanism during freezing winter temperatures, always clear away any accumulated ice or snow from the vehicle roof before attempting to open the sunroof or adjust its tilt position.
- Before leaving your Seat Leon unattended or when rain threatens, always close the sunroof completely. With an open or tilted sunroof, rainwater can enter the interior cabin and cause extensive, costly damage to the sensitive onboard electrical system and control modules.
Note
- Fallen leaves, dirt, pine needles, and other loose debris that accumulate over time inside the sunroof side guide rails should be regularly cleaned away either by hand or carefully using a vacuum cleaner.
- If the panoramic sunroof fails to operate correctly or loses calibration, the integrated anti-trap safety function will also be disabled. Contact a specialised workshop immediately for technical calibration.

Convenience function to open or close the sunroof
Fig. 88 Door handle: sensor surface.
The panoramic sunroof of your Seat Leon can be opened and closed remotely with the convenience function, in the exact same manner as the side power windows.
Using the door lock
- Hold the mechanical key blade inside the driver door lock cylinder
in either the unlocking or locking position to slide open or close the roof panel into the tilted position.
Release and let go of the key to interrupt and stop this movement instantly.
Using the remote control
- Keep either the locking or unlocking button on your remote fob pressed continuously to open or close the glass roof. If you release the button mid-way, the opening or closing operation stops immediately.
Using the Keyless Access system (locking only)
Press and hold your finger on the exterior locking touch sensor surface ››› Fig. 88 (indicated by the arrow) on the door handle to close the sunroof. If you lift your finger and stop touching the sensor surface, the convenience locking function is interrupted.
Anti-trap function of the panoramic sunroof
The built-in anti-trap pinch protection function significantly reduces the risk of personal injury when the sunroof panel closes. If the sliding sunroof encounters any resistance or an obstacle while closing, it reverses and reopens immediately.
- Check and inspect why the sunroof did not close completely.
- Try attempting to close the sunroof again.
- If the sunroof cannot close successfully due to an obstruction or mechanical resistance, it stops at that exact position and then automatically reopens. During subsequent automatic closing attempts, the system re-evaluates the path.
- If the sunroof still remains unable to close normally, you can close it manually without the anti-trap safety function.
Closing the sunroof without the anti-trap function
- Within approximately 5 seconds after the anti-trap protection has been triggered, slide your finger forward
continuously over the touch-sensitive functional area
›››
Fig. 87 A and
keep it pressed until the sunroof is fully closed. - The sunroof will now close without the anti-trap function intervening!
- If the panoramic sunroof still refuses to close after trying this, visit a specialised workshop or service center promptly.
WARNING Closing the panoramic sunroof without the active anti-trap protection function can cause serious crushing injuries.
- Always exercise extreme caution and watch the glass panel when closing the sunroof manually.
- No person should ever remain in the movement path of the sunroof panel, especially when closing it without the safety anti-trap function active.
- The emergency closing mode does not prevent fingers or other sensitive parts of the body from becoming severely pinched against the roof frame, resulting in painful injuries.
