Seat Leon >> Anti-theft alarm
Description
Depending on the specific factory equipment package, your Seat Leon may be fitted with a comprehensive anti-theft alarm system.
The perimeter theft alarm system actively monitors all side doors, the front engine bonnet, and the rear luggage lid.
The anti-theft alarm system activates automatically whenever the vehicle is locked.
If the vehicle is not opened electronically with a valid authenticated key, the alarm triggers and emits distinctive audio and light hazard signals for a maximum duration of approximately 5 minutes.
When is the anti-theft alarm triggered?
- If a door that was previously unlocked mechanically is opened using the vehicle key blade, you have a brief window of 15 seconds to switch on the ignition before the alarm sounds (depending on specific regional market specifications, this 15-second waiting time may be omitted entirely, causing the alarm to trigger instantly upon opening the door).
- If the front engine bonnet is opened without authorization.
- If the rear luggage lid is forced or opened illegally.
- If an invalid or unprogrammed vehicle key is inserted and used.
- If unauthorized movements are detected inside the vehicle cabin (in vehicles equipped with interior cabin monitoring).
- If the vehicle body is physically lifted or towed away (for vehicles equipped with an anti-tow inclination sensor system).
- If the vehicle is transported on a ferry boat or by rail freight (in vehicles equipped with an anti-tow system or interior monitoring).
- If the main 12-volt vehicle battery is disconnected.
- If a side window or windscreen is broken or shattered.
- When a connected trailer linked to the factory theft alarm system is unhitched improperly.
Switching off the alarm
- Unlock your Seat Leon using the remote vehicle key unlocking
button
. - Grip the exterior door handle to trigger proximity recognition.
- Switch the engine ignition on. Please note: to turn on the ignition successfully during this state, place the vehicle key precisely in the designated emergency area provided in the console to perform an emergency start sequence.
Note
- After 28 days of continuous inactivity, the alarm indicator status light will be switched off automatically to prevent the vehicle battery from exhausting if the car has been left parked for an extended period of time. The core alarm system itself, however, remains fully activated.
- If, immediately after an audible warning cycle stops, another monitored security zone is accessed (for example, if the rear lid is opened right after a door has been opened), the alarm will trigger all over again.
- The perimeter anti-theft alarm is not activated when the vehicle is locked from the inside using the central console locking button.
- If the driver's door is unlocked mechanically with the emergency key blade, only the driver's door is unlocked, while all other passenger doors remain securely locked. Only once the ignition has been turned on will the other doors become available for opening from inside—though not automatically unlocked—and the central locking switch will regain normal activation.
- Vehicle intrusion monitoring remains active even if the main battery is disconnected or inoperative for any technical reason.
Interior monitoring and anti-tow system
If any unauthorized movement or intrusion is detected in the vehicle interior while your Seat Leon is securely locked, the interior monitoring sensor triggers the perimeter alarm.
Similarly, if the vehicle sensors detect that the car body is being lifted, tilted, or towed away, the anti-tow system immediately triggers the audible and visual alarm.
Switching on the interior monitoring and the anti-tow systems
- Lock the vehicle normally. When the anti-theft alarm system is activated, both the interior monitoring sensors and the anti-tow protection system are automatically armed as well.
Depending on the specific factory equipment package, the installation and use of a partition net inside the cabin can occasionally affect the operational performance of the interior monitoring system.
Temporarily switching off the interior monitoring and anti-tow systems
- Press the
button on the
remote control
twice in succession. The interior monitoring and the anti-tow
protection systems will be deactivated for that cycle. The main anti-theft alarm system
itself remains fully activated.
Disconnect through the infotainment system menu
- Press the function button
>
Vehicle > Exterior
> Opening/Closing > Central locking >
Interior monitoring.
Both the interior monitoring sensors and the anti-tow system remain deactivated until the next time the vehicle is locked externally.
Interior monitoring and the anti-tow system can also be switched off directly via the departure menu.
To perform this action, the engine ignition must be switched off first.
To avoid triggering unnecessary false alarms, you should always deactivate interior monitoring and the anti-tow system in the following situations:
- When people or live animals remain inside the vehicle cabin.
- When your Seat Leon is to be loaded onto another means of transport, shipped, transported on a ferry, or towed.
- When the vehicle is going through an automatic car wash or is parked in a mechanical double-decker parking garage.
Risk of false interior monitoring alarms
The interior monitoring radar system will only operate correctly and reliably if the vehicle is completely locked.
Please bear in mind all local legal provisions. The following everyday situations may cause an unwanted false alarm:
- If one or more side windows are left partially or completely open.
- If the sliding or tilting glass roof is partially or fully open.
- If light, unstable objects are left moving inside the vehicle, e.g.
loose sheets of paper or decorative items hanging freely from the interior rear-view mirror.
- If the vibration alert function of a mobile phone left inside the vehicle happens to be activated.
Note
- It is technically impossible to permanently deactivate the interior monitoring and anti-tow security systems.
- If any of the side doors or the rear luggage lid are still open when the anti-theft alarm is activated, only the core perimeter alarm will be armed. The interior monitoring and anti-tow systems will only activate once all passenger doors and the rear lid are fully closed.
When the interior monitoring and anti-tow systems are switched off, the interior protection aspect of the "Safe" security system is also switched off for that cycle.
