Using the breakdown assistance function, you can directly request specialized roadside assistance in the event of a mechanical or electrical failure.

Parallel to establishing the voice connection, essential diagnostic and location vehicle data—such as your current geographic coordinates—are transmitted automatically.

Info icon for SEAT customer care information call  Information call

Initiating an information call connects you directly with the official customer care service center of SEAT S.A.

Note Placing breakdown assistance and customer information calls may incur additional connection charges on your mobile phone bill, depending on your network carrier.

SOS emergency call icon Types of emergency call

  • Public (mandatory by law): an automated or manual emergency call placed directly to the public safety answering point (PSAP) of the country you are driving in, conducted in the official language of that jurisdiction.
  • Private: an emergency call routed directly to a dedicated "SEAT call centre", which offers enhanced user assistance services, including communication in the specific language selected within your vehicle's infotainment system. At any point during the call, the user can choose to transfer or cancel the private emergency call to be attended directly by the local public emergency services.

Private emergency call

If the private emergency call service is included within your vehicle's connected service portfolio, the emergency call service is activated by default for a specified initial contract term.

  • The emergency call service is designed to dispatch medical and rescue assistance as rapidly as possible during an urgent situation.
  • When the emergency call service triggers, a direct voice and data connection is established with the specialized SEAT emergency call center.
  • If an emergency call is initiated manually by pressing the SOS button or automatically when an airbag or seatbelt pretensioner deploys during a collision, all relevant telemetry data—including the vehicle's exact GPS coordinates—is transmitted automatically.
  • The call center agent communicates in the primary language configured in your Seat Leon infotainment settings. If that language is not supported by agents in the regional emergency center, communication defaults to English.
  • Dedicated safety hardware components, such as a specialized emergency microphone, an independent cabin emergency speaker, and an integrated backup battery separate from the main 12-volt power grid, ensure full system operation even after severe collision damage.
  • The private emergency call function can be permanently deactivated by certified technical staff. SEAT recommends visiting an authorized SEAT dealership for any system configuration changes.
  • If your vehicle is also equipped with the public emergency call system, the private emergency call functionality can be deactivated via the owner web portal, mobile app, or by enabling privacy mode within the Infotainment system settings to restrict data transmission.

Starting an emergency call manually

1. Gently press the protective flip cover Protective flip cover icon for the SOS emergency call button in the Seat Leon to open it and gain access to the emergency control panel ››› Fig. 49.

2. Press and hold down the red emergency call button for several seconds ››› Fig. 50 1.

The emergency call sequence activates immediately, establishing a direct hands-free voice connection with the emergency response coordination center.

Alternatively, the emergency call service can also be triggered manually through the designated menu options on the central Infotainment system touchscreen.

If you press the emergency call button by mistake, cancel the outgoing call sequence immediately:

1. Press and hold the emergency call button a second time until the system control lamp stops flashing and returns to solid green.

Note Only press the SOS emergency call button ››› Fig. 50 when facing a genuine accident, medical crisis, or dangerous emergency situation.

Automatic activation of an emergency call

The automatic emergency call feature functions only when the vehicle ignition is turned on.

A direct connection to the SEAT emergency call center is triggered automatically in the following critical scenarios:

  • Immediately after any of the vehicle airbags deploy during a crash.
  • Immediately following the activation of the pyrotechnic seatbelt pretensioners.
  • Depending on vehicle equipment, following an emergency intervention by the Emergency Assist system when driver inactivity is detected.

Once initiated automatically by crash sensors, the emergency call cannot be canceled or interrupted by pressing the emergency call button ››› Fig. 50.

If the emergency response center receives no verbal response from cabin occupants following automated call connection, emergency rescue services are dispatched to the transmitted location automatically.

Integrated battery

An internal back-up battery ensures that the emergency call unit remains powered and functional for a period of time even if the primary 12-volt vehicle battery becomes disconnected or damaged during an impact.

If this integrated back-up battery loses charge or develops an operational fault, a warning message appears on the instrument cluster display. Visit a specialized technical workshop promptly to have the auxiliary battery replaced.

EDR data transmission

When an emergency call is initiated, relevant vehicle telemetry data is transmitted directly to the emergency call center so that responders can assess collision severity and dispatch appropriate rescue equipment to your Seat Leon.

Geographic location tracking data is continuously overwritten in memory during normal driving.

This ensures that your vehicle is never subject to continuous external monitoring or tracking.

All telemetry data linked to an emergency call is processed strictly to manage the emergency response (eCall). The telematics system automatically purges and deletes all call-related data logs a few hours after the incident activation.

The transmitted data package includes:

  • The exact GPS location coordinates of your Seat Leon at the instant the emergency call was activated.
  • The 17-character Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
  • The specific vehicle model type and powertrain specification (combustion engine or hybrid setup).
  • The activation method (whether triggered automatically by crash sensors or manually by an occupant).
  • The classification type of the active call.
  • The directional heading in which the vehicle was traveling when the emergency system activated.
  • The precise timestamp of the impact event.
  • The estimated number of seat occupants detected via fastened seatbelts.
  • The active language selected in the vehicle's Infotainment system settings.

WARNING The following conditions may mean that it is not possible to make a public or private emergency call, either manually or automatically, or that it is only possible to a limited extent:

  • The emergency call attempt is initiated in a remote area with weak or non-existent mobile network coverage or GPS satellite reception.
  • In geographical regions with adequate mobile phone and satellite GPS reception, the primary telecommunication service provider's mobile network is currently unavailable. In this scenario, the emergency call system in your Seat Leon will automatically revert to using the legally mandated public emergency network, provided it is available in the vehicle.
  • In areas with sufficient cellular and satellite signal reception, a compatible 2G/3G mobile telecommunication provider network is not available or has been decommissioned.
  • In certain countries, the connected emergency call service may not be active or supported, and depending on the exact location of the vehicle, the control lamp LEDs and the operational behavior of different voice call features may function in a specific regional mode.
  • There is no valid active license or subscription for the commercial use of the private emergency call service.
  • Essential electronic components of the vehicle required to place an emergency phone call have sustained physical damage during a collision or fail to receive adequate electrical power.
  • The private emergency call service feature has been manually deactivated via the owner web portal or mobile application. In this situation, any triggered emergency call is automatically forwarded to the public emergency call service, provided it is active in the vehicle.
  • The private emergency call function has been restricted by blocking telematics data transmission through privacy mode settings in the infotainment menu. Under these settings, the system defaults to placing calls directly to the public emergency call infrastructure.

If the private emergency call service fails to connect due to technical limitations or network faults, all calls are automatically rerouted to the public emergency call service.

  • The vehicle's ignition system is switched off completely.

Note The operational readiness and functionality of the legally required public emergency call system may be severely limited or degraded if a non-original, retrofitted infotainment system is installed in your Seat Leon.

Note The emergency call, breakdown assistance, and customer information services are available exclusively in select countries and geographical markets.
