The exact appearance and visual marking of ISOFIX or i-Size anchor points varies depending on equipment specification and regional market regulations.

To evaluate the compatibility of ISOFIX or i-Size child restraint systems within your vehicle, refer to the detailed positioning table below.

Vehicle ISOFIX/i-Size positions

Compatibility table for ISOFIX and i-Size child seat positions across front and rear seating locations in the Seat Leon

a) For forward-facing child seats mounted on the front passenger seat with the front airbag activated, move the passenger seat as far back as possible from the dash panel, while ensuring that the vehicle seat belt's upper anchoring point remains positioned behind the child seat frame.

b) For rear-facing child seats installed with the front passenger airbag manually deactivated, seats without height adjustment must be slid to their rearmost longitudinal position, while seats featuring height adjustment should be adjusted to their rearmost and lowest physical position.

c) Correct installation of child restraint systems on front seats may require adjusting the inclination of the seat backrest slightly backward.

  • Size class: The size class designation corresponds directly to the authorized body weight range for the child seat. On child restraint systems holding universal or semi-universal approval, the size class is printed on the official ECE approval label attached to the seat structure. The specific size class is clearly marked on the corresponding child seat.
  • IUF: Position suitable for ISOFIX / i-Size child restraint systems bearing "universal" approval that are certified for use within this specific weight category.
  • IL: Position suitable for specific ISOFIX child restraint systems categorized as vehicle-specific, restricted, or semi-universal. Always verify compatibility by checking the vehicle application list provided by the child seat manufacturer.
  • IB: Seating position suitable for installing an ISOFIX forward-facing group 2/3 booster seat as well as an i-Size forward-facing child seat designed for children with a height ranging from 100 to 150 cm.
  • X: Seating position not suitable for mounting ISOFIX or i-Size child restraint systems within this weight group or size class.

The location of the ISOFIX or i-Size mounting anchorages is clearly indicated by standard graphic symbols ››› Fig. 40 , ››› Fig. 41. Depending on vehicle equipment, the retaining rings are welded directly to the seat frame structure or anchored securely to the rear floor pan of your Seat Leon.

  • First, use your hand to open the pre-cut fabric flap behind the marked upholstery grooves to expose the metal securing rings ››› Fig. 40.
  • Push the child seat latch connectors firmly onto the ISOFIX or i-Size securing rings until you hear a clear, distinct click confirming mechanical engagement ››› Fig. 42. If the child seat is equipped with a Top Tether belt, route and clip the upper hook onto the corresponding anchor ring. Follow all guidelines provided in the child seat instruction manual.
  • Firmly pull on both sides of the child seat frame to verify that both connectors are locked solidly onto the anchor rings.

Certified child safety seats featuring ISOFIX, i-Size, and Top Tether attachment systems are available through authorized technical services and dealerships.

WARNING The lower securing rings are engineered strictly for anchoring ISOFIX, i-Size, and Top Tether child restraint systems.

  • Never attach other child seats lacking ISOFIX or i-Size connectors, standard adult seat belts, luggage straps, or loose cargo to these anchor rings—doing so creates a severe safety hazard that can lead to fatal injuries during a crash.
  • Always double-check that the child seat is correctly locked onto both lower ISOFIX or i-Size rings and that the Top Tether strap is properly tensioned.
