Seat Leon >> Service intervals

The service interval indicator appears automatically on the instrument cluster screen as well as within the central infotainment system interface.

Because different versions of instrument clusters and infotainment screens are installed across various trim levels, the exact display graphics and step-by-step prompts may vary slightly on your dashboard.

SEAT categorizes maintenance schedules into services requiring an engine oil change (such as an Oil change service) and services focused purely on mechanical checks without an oil swap (such as a routine Inspection).

For vehicles configured with fixed service schedules based on time or mileage, maintenance intervals are strictly pre-defined by preset thresholds.

For models running on the LongLife Service schedule, intervals are calculated dynamically based on real-world driving conditions. Thanks to advances in engine construction and lubricant technology, routine maintenance requirements have been streamlined so oil changes occur only when the car requires them. To calculate these flexible intervals (up to a maximum of 2 years), the vehicle system continuously analyzes driving style, trip profiles, and operating conditions. The initial advance notice appears 20 days prior to the calculated service date. The distance remaining until the next service is always rounded up to the nearest 100 km (or miles), while time limits are shown in whole days. Note that the updated service message cannot be calculated or displayed until at least 500 km have elapsed following a reset; prior to reaching this distance, only placeholder dashes are shown on the screen.

Inspection reminder

When a scheduled service or vehicle inspection becomes due soon, an automated service reminder appears on the screen every time you switch on the ignition.

The readout clearly displays the remaining distance in kilometers (or miles) or the exact number of days left before your Seat Leon requires servicing.

Service due

When the required date or distance threshold for a service or inspection is reached, an acoustic warning chime sounds when switching on the ignition, and the fixed spanner Fixed spanner service interval indicator icon on the Seat Leon instrument cluster icon illuminates on the instrument cluster for several seconds alongside one of these status messages:

  • Service now!
  • Please have your vehicle inspected
  • Oil change service due!
  • Oil change service and inspection due!

Consult a service notification

With the ignition turned on, the engine switched off, and the car brought to a complete standstill, you can manually check your current service status at any time:

To inspect the scheduled service date using the infotainment touchscreen:

  • Press the main menu button Vehicle status menu shortcut icon on the infotainment screen Vehicle > Vehicle status > Service.

To check the service date directly on the digital instrument cluster:

  • Open the digital cockpit display and read the remaining interval metrics exclusively through the Service menu option.

Resetting the service interval indicator

If routine maintenance was performed outside an authorized SEAT workshop, the service display can be manually reset using the following procedure:

  • Access the instrument cluster settings and reset the service interval indicator directly through the onboard Service menu.

Avoid restarting or resetting the indicator between regular maintenance intervals, as doing so will cause the display to show incorrect distance and time calculations.

If you manually reset the oil change service display, the system automatically converts from a flexible interval routine to a fixed service schedule, even on vehicles originally operating with the Flexible oil change service enabled.

Note

  • The active service notification automatically clears from the screen after a few seconds once the engine is started or when you press the OK button on the multifunction steering wheel.
  • On vehicles using the LongLife system where the 12V battery has been disconnected for an extended period, the internal software cannot accurately calculate the exact date for the next service. Consequently, the displayed interval may be imprecise. In such cases, make sure to follow the maximum allowable time and distance limits specified in your owner's documentation.

If you choose to reset the display manually, the system defaults to fixed service intervals. For this reason, we recommend having all service interval resets performed by an authorized dealership.
