Seat Leon >> Rev counter
The rev counter displays the engine's rotational speed, measuring the total number of crankshaft revolutions per minute to help you monitor powertrain performance in your Seat Leon.
Working in conjunction with the gear-change recommendation indicator on the digital screen, the rev counter ensures you operate your vehicle's engine at an efficient and suitable speed under varying driving conditions.
The beginning of the red zone on the rev counter dial marks the maximum allowable engine speed in any gear once the vehicle has completed its break-in period and reached normal operating temperature. However, it is always advisable to shift the transmission selector lever into D or lift your foot off the accelerator pedal before the needle approaches the red danger zone.
We strongly recommend avoiding excessively high engine revs and following the prompts provided by the gear-change recommendation system. Further details can be found in the designated section covering optimal gear selection.
NOTICE
- To prevent mechanical damage to the engine components, the rev counter needle should only enter the red zone for brief moments during dynamic acceleration.
- When the engine is still cold after startup, avoid high revs, heavy throttle applications, and demanding engine loads.
For the sake of the environment
Shifting up to a higher gear early helps reduce fuel consumption while keeping exhaust emissions and engine noise to a minimum.

Control lamps
Lights up yellow. Fuel tank almost empty. The fuel reserve level has been reached. Refuel at your earliest convenience.
Lights up yellow. Presence of water in diesel. Turn off the engine immediately and seek professional assistance.
The instrument display operates only when the ignition is switched on.
Your driving range based on remaining fuel is shown directly on the multi-function instrument cluster.
You can check the official fuel tank capacity specifications of your specific vehicle in the technical data section.
WARNING Driving with critically low fuel levels can cause the vehicle to stall unexpectedly in traffic, creating a serious hazard for severe accidents and injuries.
- When the fuel level in the tank is extremely low, fuel may be delivered to the engine irregularly, especially when driving up steep inclines or negotiating sharp descents.
- Essential driver support systems, power steering assistance, and braking vacuum may become impaired or cease to function if the engine begins running erratically or cuts out entirely due to fuel starvation.
- SEAT recommends refueling your Seat Leon whenever the tank level drops to approximately one quarter full to prevent unexpected engine shutdowns caused by fuel depletion.
NOTICE Never allow the fuel tank to run completely dry. An irregular fuel supply causes engine misfiring, allowing unburnt fuel to pass directly into the exhaust system.
This condition can lead to permanent damage to the catalytic converter or the diesel particulate filter.
Note The small arrow icon located on the fuel gauge next to the fuel pump symbol points directly toward the side of the vehicle where the fuel filler flap is located.
