Removing and installing upper transverse link, front-wheel drive
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Torque wrenches - V.A.G 1332-
Removing
- Remove rear wheel on affected side.
- Remove the coil springs.
- Unhook line -1- from retainer -2- -arrows-.
- Unscrew nut -3- and take off washer -4-.
- Unscrew bolt -5-.
- Use felt-tip pen or similar to mark position of eccentric bolt -3- in relation to subframe.
- Unscrew nut -2- and pull out eccentric bolt -3-.
- Take out upper suspension link -1-.
Installing
Carry out installation in the reverse sequence, noting the following:
- The threaded connections of the suspension link may only be loosened and tightened in the unladen weight position.
Specified torques
- Check wheel alignment

Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Torque wrenches - V.A.G 1332-
Removing
- Remove rear wheel on affected side.
- Remove the coil springs.
- If present, hang out the lines from the bracket on the transverse link.
- Unscrew nut -1- and remove washer -2-.
- Unscrew bolt -4-.
- Remove shim -3-.
- Use felt-tip pen or similar to mark position of eccentric bolt -3- in relation to subframe.
- Unscrew nut -2- and pull out eccentric bolt -3-.
- Take out upper suspension link -1-.
Installing
Carry out installation in the reverse sequence, noting the following:
- The threaded connections of the suspension link may only be loosened and tightened in the unladen weight position.

- Check wheel alignment
