Seat Leon >> Accessories, spare parts and repair work
Introduction
Always consult your authorized SEAT dealership or specialized parts retailer for expert advice before purchasing aftermarket accessories and replacement components for your vehicle.
Your Seat Leon has been engineered at the factory to meet rigorous active and passive safety standards. For this reason, we strongly recommend seeking guidance from a SEAT Official Service partner before retrofitting any accessories or installing replacement parts. Your official service network has direct access to the latest manufacturer specifications and technical updates, ensuring they can recommend parts that match your exact requirements.
They are also fully equipped to answer any technical or legal questions you might have regarding official operating regulations.
We recommend relying exclusively on genuine SEAT accessories and original SEAT parts. SEAT tests these components extensively for functional suitability, long-term reliability, and structural safety. Authorized SEAT service centers possess the necessary professional tools, diagnostic equipment, and skilled expertise to ensure that components are installed correctly.
Although SEAT continuously monitors the automotive aftermarket, it cannot verify whether unauthorized products meet the strict safety, reliability, and suitability requirements of your vehicle. Consequently, SEAT accepts no product liability or warranty responsibility for non-genuine items, even if they have received approval from independent technical inspection institutes or statutory bodies.
Any retrofitted equipment or electronic accessories that exert a direct functional effect on the vehicle or alter its driving dynamics—such as aftermarket cruise control systems or electronically controlled suspension setups—must carry official vehicle type approval and display the CE or "e" mark (the official European Union authorization symbol).
If any auxiliary electrical consumer devices are installed inside the cabin that do not directly control the vehicle itself (such as portable cooler boxes, business laptops, or auxiliary fans), they must bear the appropriate conformity mark indicating manufacturer compliance with European Union directives.
WARNING Accessories such as mobile phone holders, navigation mounts, or portable cup holders must never be affixed over airbag module covers or installed within the expansion path of the airbags. Violating this rule creates an extreme risk of severe impact injuries if the supplemental restraint systems deploy during a collision.
Technical modifications
Unauthorized modifications, software tuning, rewiring, or alterations to the data communication networks on your Seat Leon can cause serious electrical system malfunctions and component failures.
Please understand that your SEAT dealership cannot accept liability or warranty responsibility for vehicle damage resulting from unauthorized modifications or improperly executed repair work.
For this reason, we advise having any necessary mechanical, electronic, or electrical work performed exclusively by official SEAT service centers utilizing genuine factory parts.
WARNING Improperly performed technical modifications or unapproved repair work carried out on your vehicle can induce sudden electronic malfunctions and lead to dangerous accidents.
Radio telephones and office equipment
Radio transmitters (fixed installation)
Any permanent retrofitting of fixed radio transmission equipment inside your vehicle requires prior technical approval. SEAT generally grants authorization for approved types of radio transmitters provided that strict installation criteria are met:
- The aerial antenna is installed correctly by professionals.
- The antenna is mounted on the exterior body of the vehicle, utilizing properly shielded cables together with non-reflective aerial ground trimming.
- The effective radio frequency transmitting power does not exceed 10 Watts measured directly at the aerial base.
A SEAT Official Service center or specialized workshop can provide comprehensive information regarding the installation and safe operation of transmitters with higher output power ratings.
Mobile radio transmitters
Commercial mobile phones, smartphones, or portable two-way radio equipment operated inside the cabin can occasionally create electromagnetic interference with the sensitive electronic control units of your Seat Leon, triggering system malfunctions. Such issues are frequently caused by:
- Operating devices without an external vehicle antenna.
- An external aerial that has been installed incorrectly.
- Transmitting power levels exceeding 10 Watts.
For these reasons, you must never operate portable mobile telephones or handheld radio transmitters inside the vehicle without connecting them to a properly installed exterior aerial.
Please also keep in mind that maximum communication range and signal reception for mobile equipment can only be achieved when utilizing a dedicated external aerial.
Business equipment
The retrofit installation of mobile office equipment or communication devices is permitted within the vehicle cabin, provided that the hardware cannot under any circumstances obstruct or interfere with the driver's immediate control of the car, and that the devices carry the required regulatory compliance markings. Any retrofit device that has the potential to influence vehicle control must possess specific type approval for your model and bear the official "e" mark.
WARNING Operating mobile telephones, smartphones, or high-powered radio equipment inside the vehicle cabin without a properly installed exterior aerial generates excessive electromagnetic field radiation, which can pose potential health hazards.
Note
- Retrofitting unapproved electrical or electronic equipment to your Seat Leon can alter its vehicle type-approval status and, under certain legal conditions, result in the revocation of the official vehicle registration documents.
- Always review and follow the operating instructions provided by the manufacturer of your mobile telephone or radio communication device.
