Seat Leon >> Snow chains
Snow chains are strictly permitted only on the front wheels of your vehicle, even on variants equipped with an advanced 4-wheel drive (4Drive) system.
- After driving just a few metres with snow chains freshly installed, stop and inspect them to ensure they are seated correctly; adjust their position immediately if necessary, following the specific fitting guidelines provided by the chain manufacturer.
- Always maintain a safe speed and keep well below 50 km/h (30 mph) while running on snow chains.
- If you find yourself stuck or experiencing wheel slip in deep snow despite having snow chains mounted, it is advisable to temporarily deactivate the traction control system (TCS) within the electronic stability control (ESC) menu.
Fitted correctly, snow chains dramatically enhance both directional traction and emergency braking performance when navigating severe winter conditions with your Seat Leon.
For engineering and clearance reasons, the installation of snow chains is restricted exclusively to specific wheel rim and tyre dimensions:

Be sure to remove any decorative central wheel trims or hubcaps before attempting to mount snow chains to avoid scratching or snapping the plastic components.
WARNING The use of unsuitable chains, or failing to install them correctly, can cause component failure, vehicle damage, and serious accidents.
- Always choose snow chains that are officially appropriate and sized for your specific wheel setup.
- Carefully observe all mounting instructions and safety guidelines supplied by the snow chain manufacturer.
- Never exceed maximum speed limits when driving with snow chains attached to your tyres.
- Before installing the chains, verify that the wheel and tyre combination matches the approved dimensions listed in the compatibility table and technical vehicle documentation.
NOTICE
- Promptly remove snow chains as soon as you transition onto clear, snow-free asphalt. Driving on dry roads with chains impairs handling dynamics, damages the rubber tread, and causes rapid mechanical wear on the chains.
- Painted alloy rims can easily become scratched or scuffed if bare metal chain links make direct contact with the surface. SEAT strongly recommends utilizing surface-protected or covered snow chains to safeguard your wheels.
