Seat Leon >> General notes

  • When driving your Seat Leon with brand new tyres fitted, be especially cautious and adapt your driving style during the initial 600 km (300 miles) running-in period.
  • If you must drive over a high kerb or a similar road obstacle, approach it very slowly and drive over it as close as possible at a right angle to minimize stress on the structure.
  • Check your tyres from time to time to ensure they are free from damage such as punctures, deep cuts, surface cracks, or structural dents.

Carefully remove any foreign stones or objects embedded within the tread grooves.

  • Any wheels and tyres showing signs of physical damage must be replaced immediately without delay.
  • Keep aggressive substances like grease, oil, hydraulic fluid, and fuel completely away from the rubber tyres.
  • Replace any missing valve dust caps as soon as possible to prevent dirt ingress.
  • Mark the exact position and rotational orientation of the wheels before taking them off so that they continue to rotate in the exact same direction when reinstalled.
  • When unmounted, removed wheels or spare tyres should always be stored in a cool, dry, and preferably dark environment.

Concealed damage

Structural damage to tyres and alloy rims is frequently not readily visible to the naked eye. If you notice unusual mechanical vibrations through the steering wheel or feel your Seat Leon pulling unexpectedly to one side while driving, this behavioral change may indicate that one of the tyres has suffered internal damage. Reduce your driving speed immediately if there is any reason to suspect that damage may have occurred. Inspect the tire sidewalls and treads carefully. If no external damage is immediately visible, drive slowly and cautiously to the nearest specialized workshop to have the car inspected.

Foreign objects inserted in the tyre

  • Never remove foreign objects—such as nails or screws—if they have penetrated straight through the tyre wall!
  • If your vehicle is equipped with a factory tyre mobility system, seal the damaged tyre where necessary as detailed in the relevant section.

Always rely on a specialized workshop for professional repair or permanent replacement.

SEAT strongly recommends visiting an official SEAT dealership for this service.

The liquid sealant injected inside the tyre tread wraps securely around the embedded foreign body and provides a provisional seal to let you reach assistance.

Tyres with directional tread pattern

An arrow stamped clearly on the tyre sidewall indicates the mandatory rotation direction on directional tyres. Always pay close attention to this indicated rotation direction when mounting the wheel onto your Seat Leon. Following this rule ensures that optimal use is made of the tyre's performance characteristics in terms of aquaplaning resistance, wet grip, excessive road noise reduction, and even wear.

Retrofitting of accessories

If you wish to change, customize, or retrofit new wheels, alloy rims, or wheel trims, we strongly recommend consulting with an Official SEAT Service partner for expert advice regarding current technical standards and compatibility.

WARNING

  • Brand new tyres do not achieve their maximum potential grip levels during the first 600 km of driving. Drive particularly carefully and avoid aggressive maneuvers to prevent possible accidents in your Seat Leon.
  • Never drive a vehicle equipped with damaged tyres. Doing so compromises safety and may cause a severe loss-of-control accident.
  • If you notice unusual vibrations through the chassis or if your Seat Leon pulls strongly to one side when driving, stop the vehicle safely immediately and check the condition of all tyres.
  • Never use old tyres or tyres with an unknown history of previous use, dry rotting, or structural aging.
