Seat Leon >> Engine oil change

To ensure proper maintenance and longevity, we strongly recommend that you have the engine oil change performed professionally by an authorized Technical Service workshop.

WARNING Only attempt to change the engine oil on your Seat Leon yourself if you possess the required specialized technical knowledge and proper equipment!

  • Before opening the front bonnet, read and observe all general safety warnings and instructions.
  • Always wait for the engine and exhaust system to cool down sufficiently. Handling hot engine oil may cause severe burn injuries.
  • Always wear approved eye protection to prevent personal injuries, such as chemical irritation or splashes, caused by draining oil.
  • When removing the oil drain plug with your fingers, keep your arm positioned horizontally to help prevent hot oil from running down your forearm.
  • Wash your skin thoroughly with soap and water if it accidentally comes into contact with engine oil.
  • Engine oil is a toxic fluid! Used engine oil must be securely stored in its proper container in a safe place completely out of the reach of children.

NOTICE No chemical additives or aftermarket treatments should ever be mixed with the engine oil in your Seat Leon. Doing so could result in internal engine damage and component failure. Any mechanical damage caused by the use of such unauthorized additives is strictly excluded from factory warranty coverage.

For the sake of the environment

  • We strongly recommend that you have both the engine oil and the oil filter changed at a certified technical service center.
  • Never pour used engine oil down household drains, storm sewers, or directly onto the ground.
  • Always use an appropriate, dedicated container when draining used oil. The container must have a large enough capacity to safely hold the complete volume of engine oil being drained.
