Check the fluid level in your Seat Leon windscreen washer reservoir regularly and top it up with cleaning solution as required.

The windscreen washer reservoir holds liquid detergent solution designed to clean both the front windscreen and the rear window.

A protective filtering sieve is integrated directly inside the filler neck of the washer fluid tank. When pouring fluid into the tank, this sieve catches and retains large dirt particles so that they cannot enter the system and block the fine spray nozzles. Never remove this protective sieve unless it requires cleaning. If the sieve is missing, damaged, or uninstalled, debris can enter the system during refilling and clog the windscreen washer nozzles.

  • Open and secure the front bonnet ››› on page 344.
  • The windscreen washer reservoir is easily identified by the dedicated spray icon Seat Leon windscreen washer reservoir cap symbol icon stamped on its blue cap.
  • Inspect the tank to verify whether there is enough cleaning fluid inside.

Plain tap water alone is insufficient to clean road grime, bugs, and oil film off the windscreen and headlights. We recommend that you always add a specialized automotive cleaning additive to the windscreen washer fluid.

The total fluid capacity of the windscreen washer reservoir is approximately 3 liters.

NOTICE If the washer fluid mixture does not contain a sufficient concentration of antifreeze during freezing weather, the liquid can freeze upon hitting the front windscreen and rear window, severely reducing forward and rear visibility.

  • During cold winter months, always ensure that the windscreen washer fluid contains enough automotive antifreeze.
  • In freezing conditions, never operate the windscreen wiper system unless you have first warmed up the glass using the vehicle cabin ventilation system. Otherwise, the washer fluid could freeze into a sheet of ice on the windscreen and obstruct your vision.

NOTICE Never mix unapproved antifreeze solutions or generic household additives with the windscreen washer water. Doing so can leave an oily, greasy film across the glass that severely impairs visibility.

  • Use clean water mixed with an approved window cleaner fluid recommended by SEAT.
  • When temperatures drop, add a suitable automotive antifreeze product to the water in the reservoir in the correct proportion.

NOTICE

  • Never mix cleaning products recommended by SEAT with alternative chemical products. Doing so can cause chemical flocculation, forming clumps that permanently block the windscreen washer jets.
  • When topping up operating fluids under the bonnet, make absolutely certain that you pour the liquids into the correct respective reservoirs. Using the wrong fluids can cause severe mechanical malfunctions.
  • Running out of window washer fluid obscures your view through the windscreen, creating an unsafe driving hazard.
