Standardized distance measurements (note that these technical dimensions can vary slightly depending on specific suspension variants and chassis combinations):

  1. Primary structural mounting points on the vehicle chassis
  2. Minimum clearance distance of 65 mm
  3. Ground clearance height ranging between 350 mm and 420 mm (measured with the vehicle fully laden)
  4. Longitudinal reference measurement of 1043 mm
  5. Variant reference dimension of 344 mm / 333 mm for Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) models
  6. Variant reference dimension of 564 mm / 553 mm for PHEV models
  7. Overhang reference dimension of 885 mm (Leon hatchback) / 874 mm (Leon PHEV) / 1,162.5 mm (Leon Sportstourer estate) / 1,151.5 mm (Leon Sportstourer PHEV)

SEAT strongly recommends that any towing bracket retrofitting procedures be performed professionally at a specialized workshop. Depending on the vehicle configuration, it may be necessary to modify or upgrade the engine cooling system capacity or install specialized thermal protection shields. SEAT recommends visiting an authorized SEAT dealership for expert installation.

Whenever a towing bracket is retrofitted onto your Seat Leon, all mandatory distance and clearance specifications must be strictly observed and maintained.

The vertical distance measured from the center of the spherical ball head down to the road surface ››› Fig. 207 C must never fall below the specified minimum value. This strict requirement applies equally when your vehicle is loaded to its maximum capacity, including when subjected to the technically permissible maximum vertical load on the coupling device.

WARNING If electrical wiring and cables are improperly, incorrectly, or loosely connected during a retrofit, it can lead to severe electronic malfunctions throughout the entire vehicle communication and electrical network, potentially causing dangerous accidents and serious personal injuries.

  • Never tap into or connect the trailer's electrical wiring harness directly to the circuitry of the rear tail lights or other unsuitable power sources.

Always use approved, dedicated connector sockets designed specifically for trailer electrical integration.

  • Towing brackets should always be retrofitted exclusively by a qualified specialized workshop.

WARNING If a towing bracket is poorly fitted, structurally unsuited, or bolted incorrectly, the trailer could break free and separate completely from the vehicle while driving, leading to catastrophic accidents and fatal injuries.

Note

  • In accordance with EU Regulation 2021/535, it is strictly prohibited to install a rigid towing device that cannot be easily removed, folded, or retracted when not in use.
  • Only utilize towing brackets and hardware kits that have been officially tested and approved by SEAT for your specific vehicle model and variant.
  • On certain powertrain versions of the Seat Leon, the installation of a conventional aftermarket towing hook solution is not recommended.
