Safety instructions

Some function areas within the infotainment system may include direct hyperlinks to third-party websites. SEAT, S.A. does not own these external third-party websites accessible via links and assumes no legal liability for their content.

Certain function areas may also display external information sourced from independent third-party providers. SEAT, S.A. is not responsible for ensuring that such external information is accurate, up-to-date, or complete, nor for guaranteeing that it does not infringe upon the intellectual property rights of third parties.

Broadcasting radio stations as well as the owners of data media and audio sources remain fully responsible for the content and information they transmit.

Please bear in mind that physical obstacles such as multi-level car parks, tunnels, tall skyscrapers, mountainous terrain, or the operation of high-power electrical devices like vehicle chargers can cause interference and disrupt radio signal reception.

Furthermore, window tinting films or adhesive aftermarket decals containing metallic layers applied over built-in antennas or window panes can severely degrade radio reception quality in your Seat Leon.

WARNING The central infotainment computer is deeply integrated and interconnected with other electronic control units throughout the vehicle. Consequently, attempting to repair, disassemble, or improperly reassemble the central computer creates a serious risk of system failure, accidents, and severe personal injuries.

  • Never replace the central computer with a used, recycled unit sourced from another vehicle at the end of its lifecycle.
  • All repairs, disassembly, or reassembly work involving the central computer must be performed exclusively by qualified specialists. SEAT recommends visiting an authorized SEAT dealership for this technical work.

WARNING Any form of driver distraction can impair your reaction time and lead to a traffic accident causing severe injuries.

Staring at information displayed on the screen or managing infotainment menus while driving can dangerously distract your attention away from ongoing road traffic conditions and cause a crash.

  • Always drive with your full attention focused on traffic and operate your Seat Leon in a responsible, attentive manner.

WARNING Attempting to connect, plug in, or remove an external audio source or media storage device while driving can dangerously distract your attention away from road traffic and lead to a serious crash.

Always select audio volume levels that ensure you can clearly hear external acoustic signals at all times while operating your Seat Leon, such as emergency service sirens, warning horns, or surrounding traffic noise.

  • Setting the audio system to excessively high volume levels, even for brief periods, can cause permanent hearing impairment.

WARNING Under any of the following technical or environmental circumstances, an automated emergency call, a standard phone call, or wireless data transmission may fail to connect or be unexpectedly interrupted:

  • When driving through locations with non-existent or inadequate mobile network reception or weak satellite GPS signals, such as deep road tunnels, narrow streets bounded by high-rise buildings, multi-level parking garages, underpasses, or enclosed mountain valleys.
  • When located in geographical regions with adequate signal strength, but where the regional telecommunications network operator is experiencing severe signal interference, technical maintenance outages, or complete network unavailability.
  • When essential onboard hardware components required to execute emergency calls, phone calls, or data transmissions become physically damaged, experience software faults, or suffer from an insufficient electrical power supply.
  • When the internal battery of your connected mobile phone device is completely discharged or has insufficient remaining charge to maintain an active call.

WARNING In specific international markets or on certain telecommunication networks, initiating an emergency call is only possible if a compatible mobile phone device is connected to your vehicle's telephone interface containing an active, unlocked SIM card with adequate call balance and sufficient network coverage.

WARNING Carefully read and strictly follow all operational manuals and safety documentation provided by the respective device manufacturers when using mobile phones, media cards, external hardware, or auxiliary audio and multimedia sources inside your Seat Leon.

WARNING Switching between different audio inputs or connecting external multimedia sources can cause sudden, unexpected jumps in output volume.

  • Always reduce the system volume setting on the infotainment display before plugging in or switching over to external audio or multimedia sources.

WARNING Operating mobile phones or radio-frequency communications equipment inside the cabin without linking them directly to an exterior vehicle antenna can result in electromagnetic radiation levels exceeding recommended safety limits, creating potential health risks for the driver and passengers. This safety risk is also present if an external antenna has been installed incorrectly.

  • Maintain a minimum safety clearance distance of at least 20 centimeters between mobile phone antennas and active medical devices, such as cardiac pacemakers, as radio signals from mobile devices can interfere with pacemaker operation.
  • Never carry a powered-on mobile phone directly over or adjacent to an active medical device, such as stowing it in a shirt or jacket chest pocket.
  • Turn off your mobile phone immediately if you suspect or notice that it is causing electromagnetic interference with a cardiac pacemaker or any other active medical device.

WARNING Mobile phones, external media devices, cables, and charging accessories left loose or improperly stowed inside your Seat Leon can be thrown violently around the passenger compartment during sudden braking, sharp evasive maneuvers, or a collision, causing damage to the interior and serious injuries to occupants.

  • Always position mobile phones, external devices, and accessories well clear of front, side, and curtain airbag deployment zones, or stow them securely inside closed storage compartments.
  • Route and position all connection cables from external audio sources and chargers so that they do not entangle the driver or interfere with pedal and steering controls.

WARNING An improperly positioned center armrest can restrict the driver's arm movements, which could cause a sudden loss of vehicle control, resulting in an accident and severe injuries.

Always keep the storage compartments beneath the center armrest fully closed and latched shut while the vehicle is in motion.

WARNING If ambient lighting conditions are poor or if the central touchscreen is scratched, damaged, or dirty, essential system indications and information displayed on the screen may become difficult to read or be misinterpreted.

  • Visual indications and advisory information displayed on the infotainment screen must never prompt you to take unnecessary risks that compromise road safety. The central display is designed solely for assistance and is never a substitute for direct driver awareness and vigilance.

WARNING Broadcasting radio stations may transmit urgent emergency, disaster, or hazard announcements. However, any of the following conditions will prevent these critical warnings from being received or output through the audio system:

  • When traveling through areas with weak or non-existent radio signal reception, such as inside road tunnels, narrow urban canyons bordered by skyscrapers, multi-level garages, underpasses, or mountainous terrain and deep valleys.
  • When specific frequency bands of the broadcasting station suffer from atmospheric interference or are entirely unavailable despite being in a region with nominal signal coverage.
  • When cabin speakers or electrical components required for signal processing and radio reception are physically damaged, non-functional, or lacking adequate power supply.

WARNING Power off mobile phones and wireless communications equipment immediately when entering areas with a heightened risk of explosion!

WARNING Driving recommendations, lane guidance, and real-time traffic updates provided by the onboard navigation system may occasionally differ from actual road conditions.

  • Physical road signs, traffic signals, police directions, and local traffic regulations always take absolute precedence over navigation system prompts and route suggestions.
  • Continuously adjust your driving speed and style in your Seat Leon to suit prevailing visibility, weather conditions, road surface quality, and surrounding traffic flow.
  • Unforeseen circumstances, such as sudden road closures or detours, can significantly extend overall travel time and route distance, or temporarily prevent guided navigation to your target destination altogether.

NOTICE In locations governed by special safety regulations or where the operation of mobile devices is prohibited, your mobile phone must remain switched off at all times. High-frequency electromagnetic radiation emitted by active mobile devices can interfere with sensitive medical hardware and vehicle electronics, leading to potential malfunctions or equipment damage.

NOTICE Playing audio at excessive volume levels or continuing playback while sound is noticeably distorted can cause permanent damage to the vehicle's interior speakers.
