Seat Leon >> WLAN access point

Introduction

The integrated infotainment system in your Seat Leon can act as a local Wi-Fi hotspot, allowing up to 8 external mobile devices to share an active WLAN internet connection simultaneously.

Alternatively, the infotainment unit can operate as a WLAN client, connecting to an external Wi-Fi network or smartphone hotspot to supply internet access to onboard systems and connected devices.

Note

  • Wireless data transmissions may incur cellular service charges depending on your network provider. Due to the substantial volume of data consumed by connected features, using an unlimited flat-rate data plan is recommended. You can also purchase dedicated vehicle data packages directly through the Cubic Telecom portal: https://seat.cubictelecom.com
  • Downloading large data packages or purchasing connectivity through third-party providers can lead to unexpected charges, particularly when operating your Seat Leon internationally under active mobile data roaming rates.

Configuration for sharing a connection over WLAN

Establishing the connection with the wireless network (WLAN)

  • Press the HOME button followed by the on-screen menu icon Seat Leon infotainment home settings menu icon.
  • Activate the vehicle's wireless network function. To do this, tap the corresponding function buttons: Network > Wi-Fi > Infotainment system as hotspot.
  • Turn on the wireless network (WLAN) functionality on the external mobile device you wish to connect. If necessary, consult the device manufacturer's instruction manual for guidance.
  • Enable mobile device assignment within your Seat Leon's infotainment system. To do this, press the Use as hotspot function button and check the selection box.
  • Enter and confirm the generated network security key displayed on your device screen.

The following configuration adjustments can also be made directly in the Infotainment system as hotspot menu:

  • Network key: This is the security password generated automatically by the system.

Tap the function button if you wish to modify the network key manually. Note that the custom network key must contain a minimum of 12 characters and a maximum of 62 characters.

  • SSID: The broadcast name of your vehicle's WLAN network (maximum 32 characters permitted).

The wireless WLAN connection between your device and the Seat Leon is now established.

To finalize and complete the connection procedure successfully, it may occasionally be necessary to input additional network credentials or data into your external device.

Depending on the specific software version and regional equipment, connecting in Hotspot mode to access SEAT CONNECT services may limit simultaneous connections to a maximum of 5 external devices.

Repeat this straightforward setup process whenever you want to link additional devices.

There is also the convenient option of scanning an on-screen QR code to pair your device directly to the infotainment system's Wi-Fi network without typing a password: simply select Settings > Network > Quick connection to infotainment system.

Configure Internet access

Your Seat Leon infotainment system can utilize the Wi-Fi hotspot of an external mobile device to establish an active internet connection for onboard apps.

Establishing the connection with the wireless network (WLAN)

  • Activate and share a wireless hotspot featuring an active internet connection on your external mobile device. Refer to the manufacturer's instruction manual if assistance is needed.
  • Press the HOME button followed by the menu icon Seat Leon network connectivity settings menu button.
  • Tap the menu sequence Settings > Network > Wi-Fi > Wi-Fi and tick the verification box to enable wireless scanning.
  • Press the Search for Wi-Fi button and select your desired external device from the populated list.

The system preferentially scans and searches for compatible devices operating on the 5 GHz Wi-Fi band. If no devices appear in the results, it is advisable to check your external device's access point configuration settings.

  • If prompted, enter the secure network security key of your external device into the Seat Leon infotainment system and confirm by pressing OK.

Manual settings:

  • Use this option to manually input the specific network parameters and IP configuration of an external WLAN device.

The wireless WLAN connection is successfully established.

To finalize the connection, you may be required to input supplemental configuration data into your external device.

Note Due to the vast diversity of consumer electronic devices and operating systems available on the market, fault-free operation of all third-party functions cannot be completely guaranteed.
