Seat Leon >> Storage compartment

Introduction

Use the cabin storage compartments inside your Seat Leon only for stowing small or lightweight personal items.

WARNING Unsecured or loose objects inside the vehicle cabin could be thrown violently across the passenger compartment in the event of sudden braking or sharp evasive maneuvers.

This can cause severe physical injuries to occupants as well as loss of vehicle control.

  • Do not carry animals or sharp, hard, or heavy items loose in open storage compartments of the vehicle, on top of the dashboard, on the parcel shelf behind the rear seats, or inside pieces of clothing and bags placed within the cabin.
  • Keep all lidded storage compartments securely closed at all times while the vehicle is in motion.
  • Do not hang heavy garments weighing more than 2.5 kg (approx. 5.5 lb) on the vehicle's coat hooks. Never leave heavy, hard, or sharp objects inside the pockets of clothing hanging from these hooks.

WARNING If cigarette lighters are left unattended inside the cabin, they may become crushed, damaged, or lit inadvertently. This could trigger a vehicle fire and cause severe burns.

  • Before adjusting or sliding any seat mechanism, ensure there are no lighters trapped in the moving rail or hinge areas of the vehicle.
  • Before closing a storage compartment lid or cover, make sure no lighters are sitting in the closing zone.
  • Never leave lighters resting inside a storage compartment or on any open surface of your Seat Leon, as extreme ambient heat inside the cabin can cause them to burst or ignite, particularly during warm summer months.

NOTICE

  • Do not store heat-sensitive or cold-sensitive items, perishable food, or medicines inside the vehicle interior.

Extreme heat or freezing temperatures within the cabin can ruin them or render them completely ineffective.

  • Objects made from transparent materials left inside the vehicle—such as reading glasses, magnifying lenses, or clear suction cups attached to the windows—can focus direct sunlight like a lens and damage interior surfaces.

Opening and closing the glove compartment

Opening: Pull the release handle ››› Fig. 164 and lower the glove compartment lid carefully.

Closing: Press the glove compartment door upwards until it latches shut firmly.

WARNING Leaving the glove compartment door open while driving significantly increases the risk of severe impact injuries in the event of a traffic collision, sudden hard braking, or rapid swerving.

  • Always keep the glove compartment closed and latched shut whenever your Seat Leon is in motion.

Drink holder

The lower door storage pockets on both the driver and front passenger sides of your Seat Leon feature integrated bottle holders.

Front drink holders

Two dedicated cup holders are conveniently built into the center console area.

Usage: Fold down the center armrest from the rear seat backrest ››› Fig. 165.

When the cup holders are no longer needed, lift the armrest back into its stowed upright position.

WARNING Improper or careless use of the bottle and drink holders can cause serious personal injury.

  • Never place uncovered hot beverages in the drink holders.

During sudden braking or an emergency maneuver, hot liquids in the cup holders could splash out and cause severe scalding burns to occupants.

  • Ensure that loose bottles or round objects are never allowed to roll into the driver's footwell while driving, as they could slide under the brake or accelerator pedals and obstruct their operation.
  • Never place glass containers, heavy metal cans, or loose food items into drink holders. Heavy loose objects can turn into dangerous projectiles during an accident and cause severe injury.

WARNING Sealed bottles or cans may burst or explode inside the vehicle cabin when exposed to extreme thermal conditions.

  • Never leave sealed liquid bottles inside your Seat Leon when cabin temperatures are expected to reach extremely high or below-freezing levels.

NOTICE Do not leave open beverage cans or unsealed cups in the drink holders while the vehicle is moving. Spilled liquids resulting from sudden stops can infiltrate switchgear and damage delicate electrical components in the center console.

Note The rubber inserts inside the drink holders can be removed easily for thorough cleaning.

Storage compartment under front seats

Opening: Press the latch on the drawer handle releasing the mechanism, then slide the drawer outwards smoothly.

Closing: Push the drawer firmly back under the seat frame until it latches securely into place.

WARNING Leaving the drawer unlatched or open can lead to serious hazards, as it may shift forward and obstruct pedal operation. This can lead to loss of vehicle control, resulting in severe accidents and injuries.

  • Always keep the drawer fully closed and latched while the vehicle is in motion. Otherwise, the drawer or items stowed inside could slide forward into the driver's footwell during hard braking, interfering with the accelerator, brake, or clutch pedals.

NOTICE The maximum permissible load for the under-seat storage drawer is 1.5 kg.

Other object holders

Your Seat Leon features various additional storage compartments, holders, and mounting points located throughout the cabin:

  • Convenient storage areas located within the central console.
  • A dedicated upper tray area inside the glove compartment.

The maximum load stored in this glove compartment area should not exceed 1.2 kg.

  • Additional storage pockets integrated into the rear seating area, positioned to the left and right of the seats.
  • Map pockets fitted on the backrests of both front seats.

Integrated coat hooks are located on the door pillars and rear grab handle surrounds.

WARNING Hanging bulky clothing from cabin hooks can restrict your field of view, significantly increasing the risk of serious accidents and personal injuries.

  • Always position hanging garments on coat hooks so that the driver's side and rear visibility remain completely unobstructed.
  • Only hang lightweight clothing items on the vehicle hooks. Never leave heavy, hard, or sharp objects inside garment pockets.
  • Do not use rigid clothes hangers on the hooks, as they can interfere with the deployment path of the head-protection curtain airbags during an impact.

NOTICE Avoid forcing oversized items, such as large water bottles, or objects with sharp edges into the front seat backrest pockets. Doing so risks tearing the pocket stitching and permanently damaging the seat upholstery.
