Seat Leon >> Rear park assist
Description
Rear park assist is an intelligent visual and audible assistant integrated into your Seat Leon that warns you of obstacles located directly behind the vehicle during reverse manoeuvring.
Precision ultrasonic sensors are integrated directly into the rear bumper fascia. When these sensors detect an obstacle in your reversing path, you are promptly alerted by intermittent audible beeps and corresponding graphical warnings rendered on the central Infotainment system screen.
Always take care to ensure that the bumper sensors are not covered or obstructed by stickers, adhesive labels, road grime, packed snow, mud, or similar residues, as this will impair proper system operation.
Please observe the proper vehicle cleaning instructions provided in the manual.
The approximate measurement and detection ranges of the rear bumper sensors are:
- Side sensor area: approx. 0.60 m
- Central sensor area: approx. 1.60 m
As your Seat Leon gets closer to an obstacle, the frequency of the audible warning signals will increase steadily. The signal will sound continuously once the remaining distance shrinks to around 0.30 m: Stop the vehicle immediately! If the vehicle remains stationary at a constant separation distance without moving, the warning signal volume is automatically reduced after approximately 2.5 seconds.
Turning on Park assist
- Engage reverse gear on your transmission.
Turning off Park assist
- Drive forward at a speed of 15 km/h (9 mph) or faster.
- EITHER: use the gear selector lever to switch into neutral (N) or drive (D), or press the electronic parking lock button P.
Park assist settings
Visual indications and acoustic warning volumes can be customized within the central Infotainment system via the following menu path: function button
> Assistants > Parking > P > Settings.
- Rear volume: Adjusts the acoustic speaker volume for obstacles detected in the rear area.
- Reduce volume: When Rear Park Assist is switched on, the volume of the active media audio source is automatically lowered, depending on your preferred option.
Error messages
If an error or system fault message appears on the digital instrument cluster display screen within Park Assist, a technical malfunction has been registered.
If the temporary fault does not clear before turning off the ignition, it may not be displayed again the next time park assist is connected, though the underlying defect remains.
We recommend taking your vehicle to an authorized specialized workshop to have any sensor fault diagnosed and repaired.
Towing device
On Seat Leon variants factory-fitted with a towing device, when an electrical trailer harness is connected, the rear park assist system will not be activated when reverse gear is engaged, preventing false warnings from the trailer.
WARNING Always observe the general safety warnings and operating limitations ››› in Description on page 233.
