Seat Leon >> Park the vehicle

Parking

When parking your Seat Leon, all applicable legal requirements, regional traffic regulations, and local ordinances should always be strictly observed.

1. Engage the electronic parking brake securely.

2. For automatic transmission models: engage the parking lock by firmly pressing the P button.

3. Stop the engine and switch off the ignition completely.

Turn the steering wheel slightly after removing the key to engage the mechanical steering column lock.

4. For manual gearbox models: engage first gear when parking on flat ground or uphill slopes, or select reverse gear when facing downhill, and fully release the clutch pedal.

5. When parking on an incline or slope, turn the front wheels so that if your Seat Leon were to unexpectedly start rolling, it would turn toward the kerb and be safely blocked.

6. Open the door and exit the vehicle. Always look out carefully for approaching cyclists, pedestrians, and other road users!

7. Take all vehicle keys with you and lock the doors securely.

To prevent accidental mechanical damage or dangerous situations, always park your Seat Leon on a suitable, stable parking surface.

Rear seat warning

The availability of this intelligent function depends on the specific equipment package of your Seat Leon.

When the ignition is switched off at the end of a journey, an advisory text message on the central infotainment system reminds you not to leave any passengers or children behind in the rear seats.

If a rear door was opened or closed prior to starting the trip, an alert text message is also displayed on the digital instrument cluster accompanied by an audible warning tone. This reminder system can be easily enabled or disabled within the infotainment system menu under Settings > Screen settings > Rear seat warning.

WARNING If your Seat Leon is parked incorrectly or unsecured, it could roll away unexpectedly, even on gentle inclines or slight slopes. This can lead to severe traffic accidents, property damage, and serious personal injuries.

  • When parking, always execute the required shutdown operations in the stipulated order.
  • Before leaving the driver's seat, always verify that the electronic parking brake is fully engaged.

WARNING If children, vulnerable individuals who require assistance, or domestic animals are left unattended inside the vehicle, severe accidents, heat exhaustion, and serious injuries can occur.

  • Never leave children, vulnerable individuals, or animals unattended inside your Seat Leon. They could tamper with the gear selector lever, deactivate the electronic parking brake, or set the vehicle in motion.
  • Never leave children, individuals needing care, or pets inside a locked vehicle.

Depending on the ambient weather and season, dangerously high or freezing low temperatures can rapidly develop inside a closed car cabin.

  • Always take all vehicle keys with you whenever you leave the vehicle, even for a short moment.

NOTICE Severe surface irregularities, loose sand, gravel, or deep mud can cause mechanical damage to the underside of the vehicle and prevent your Seat Leon from being parked securely.

  • Always park your car on firm, level, and flat ground.

NOTICE Low-slung components on the underside of your Seat Leon—such as bumpers, front spoilers, aerodynamic undertrays, and suspension running gear parts—can easily be scraped or broken when driving over high objects protruding from the ground.

  • Drive with extreme caution when entering multi-storey car parks, driving up or down steep ramps, negotiating high kerbs or raised lane markings, and driving down sharp descents.

NOTICE Avoid parking your vehicle over areas where the hot exhaust system components could come into contact with and ignite inflammable organic materials, such as dry grass, piles of leaves, low bushes, spilled fuel, or other combustible substances.
