Seat Leon >> Changing gear in Tiptronic mode

Fig. 125 Steering wheel: automatic gearbox
levers
The Tiptronic system gives the driver of your Seat Leon the option to take manual control and change gears actively on demand.
When you switch over to the Tiptronic programme, the vehicle remains in the currently selected gear ratio. This manual hold is maintained as long as safety parameters allow and the system does not need to intervene automatically to prevent engine over-revving or stalling due to changing traffic situations.
Using Tiptronic with the steering wheel paddles
The steering wheel gear shift paddles can be used conveniently whenever the main selector lever is positioned in the D/S slot.
- Press the + gear shift paddle to upshift and change up a gear ››› Fig. 125.
- Press the - gear shift paddle to downshift and change down a gear.
- To exit temporary Tiptronic paddle mode, pull and hold the right-hand gear shift paddle towards the steering wheel for approximately 1 second.
To keep Tiptronic manual mode permanently engaged, move the main floor selector lever across into the S (Sport) position.
If the selector lever is left in position D and the steering wheel gear shift paddles are left untouched for a certain period, the Tiptronic override mode will automatically switch off and return to standard automatic control.
NOTICE
- When accelerating in manual mode, if a higher gear is not selected by the driver, the transmission will automatically upshift shortly before the engine reaches its maximum permitted RPM limit.
- Similarly, if a lower gear is selected manually, the system will hold the shift until it detects that downshifting will not cause the engine to exceed its safe maximum RPM ceiling.
