Seat Leon >> Safe driving

Safety first!

WARNING

  • This comprehensive vehicle manual contains vital operational information concerning the safe usage of your Seat Leon, designed to protect both the driver and all vehicle passengers. The remaining sections of your onboard owner's documentation also contain critical safety guidelines that you must understand and observe for personal protection.
  • Always ensure that the complete on-board documentation pack remains stored inside the vehicle at all times. This is especially crucial whenever you lend, transfer ownership, or sell your Seat Leon to another driver.

Before driving

To safeguard your personal wellbeing and the safety of your passengers, always verify the following essential checklist items before setting off on any trip in your Seat Leon:

  • Make sure that all exterior lights, brake lamps, and directional turn signals are operating properly.
  • Check the inflation pressure across all tyres.
  • Ensure that all windows, mirrors, and the windscreen provide an unobstructed, clear view of your surroundings.
  • Verify that all cargo, luggage, and loose items are securely stowed and anchored.
  • Make certain that no objects, mats, or accessories can roll or slide into the footwell and interfere with brake, accelerator, or clutch pedal travel.
  • Adjust the driver's seat, headrest, and rear-view mirrors properly to match your exact physical stature.
  • Ensure that passengers occupying the rear seats always have their headrests locked in the correct in-use position rather than stored flat.
  • Instruct all passengers to adjust their respective headrests according to their individual height.
  • Protect infant and child passengers securely using certified child restraint systems paired with properly fastened seat belts.
  • Adopt an ergonomically correct seating position. Instruct all passengers to maintain a proper posture throughout the journey.
  • Fasten your seat belt securely across your lap and chest. Instruct every passenger to buckle up properly before moving off.

Factors influencing safety

As the driver of your Seat Leon, you bear full legal and moral responsibility for your own safety and the safety of everyone traveling with you.

  • Always maintain total focus on prevailing traffic conditions and avoid becoming distracted by passengers, mobile phone conversations, or infotainment fiddling.
  • Never attempt to drive when your physical or mental faculties are impaired by fatigue, illness, prescription drugs, alcohol, or illicit substances.
  • Strictly observe national traffic laws, road regulations, and posted speed limits.
  • Always reduce your driving speed appropriately to match adverse road surfaces, heavy traffic congestion, or severe weather conditions.
  • When embarking on long-distance journeys, take regular and sufficient rest breaks—at least once every two hours.
  • Whenever possible, avoid driving when you are severely overtired or experiencing high stress.

WARNING Driving under the influence of alcohol, recreational drugs, mind-altering medication, or narcotics drastically impairs judgment and can result in catastrophic accidents and tragic loss of life.

  • Alcohol, drugs, and strong medications significantly distort sensory perception, prolong reaction times, and degrade vehicle control, creating an extreme risk of losing command of your automobile.
