Removing and installing mounting bracket, LHD

Special tools and workshop equipment required

  • Release tool - T10159 A- or
  • Release tool - T10159 B

Brakes - mechanism

Removing:

  • Remove the vent in the footwell under the steering column.
  • Remove lower steering column trim .
  • Unplug electrical connector -1-. To do this insert a hand behind the crash bar, push the retainer, turn the retaining bracket and remove the plug-in connector.
  • Unlock the fasteners - arrows - and remove the diagnosis interface for data bus - J533- - 3 - from the holder - 2 - downwards.

Brakes - mechanism

  • Pull out bolt -2- and remove crash bar -1-.

Brakes - mechanism

  • Screw out the bolts - 1 - and - 2 - and remove the right-hand holder of the knee airbag - 3 -.

Brakes - mechanism

  • Separating brake pedal from brake servo.

Work sequence for disconnecting:

  • Depress the brake pedal and hold depressed.
  • Fit the removal tool - T10159 A- or -T10159 B- and pull towards driver's seat (whilst the pedal remains depressed).

This will press the retaining lugs -3- of the mounting off the ball head of the push rod -2-.

  • Pull the release tool further and pull the brake pedal in the direction of the driver seat.

The brake pedal is thereby detached from the ball coupling of the push rod.

  • Unplug connector from accelerator position sender.

Brakes - mechanism

  • Unscrew the nuts from the mounting bracket -1, 2, 3 and 4-.
  • Remove mounting bracket from vehicle.

Note Replacing the nuts

  • Brake pedal fitted in mounting bracket.
  • Fit the mounting bracket with brake pedal fitted onto the studs.

Note

  • When fitting the bearing block, ensure that the wiring for the sender for the accelerator pedal position is free and is not trapped.
  • Ensure that the mounting bracket is seated onto all the studs.

 

  • Fit the nuts - 1, 2, 3 and 4 - onto the studs and gently screw on.
  • Tighten nuts -1, 2, 3 and 4- to the required torque.
  • Attach connector for accelerator position sender.
  • Install the brake pedal in the brake force booster.
  • Remove holder of right knee airbag.
  • Install crash bar .
  • Install the diagnostics interface for the data bus - J533- .
  • Install lower steering column trim.
  • Install the vent in the footwell under the steering column.

Caution

Before performing the first test drive, make sure that the brakes are operating correctly.

Removing and installing mounting bracket, right-hand drive vehicle

Removing:

  • Remove the wiper arm .
  • Remove the plenum chamber cover .
  • Remove the wiper motor - V- .

 

  • Screw out bolt -1-.
  • Remove dash panel end cover on front driver side.
  • Remove the driver's side footwell cover .
  • Remove the driver's side storage compartment .
  • Remove the driver's side dash panel cover .
  • Remove .
  • Follow the safety precautions when carrying out tasks on the airbag.

Brakes - mechanism

  • Remove the vent -1- in the footwell under the steering column.
  • To do this, unscrew bolt -2- and remove footwell vent on driver side -1-.
  • Unscrew the crash bar from the brake pedal and place it to one side .
  • Separate the brake pedal from the servo brake.

  • Release connectors -arrows- and pull off.
  • Remove gas pedal module-1- from bearing block -2- .

Brakes - mechanism

  • Disconnecting the wiring loom -2- on bearing block-1- -Arrows-.

Brakes - mechanism

  • Unscrewing and removing the nuts -Arrows- from the bearing block -1-.

Brakes - mechanism

  • Secure brake servo -1- against falling.

Installation:

Carry out installation in the reverse sequence, noting the following:

  • Ensure to route wiring harness -2- correctly so that it is not trapped.
  • Connecting up -2- on the bearing block -1- -Arrows-.
  • Install the brake pedal in the brake force booster.

Tightening torques:

  • Crash bar .
  • Vent in the footwell under the steering column .
