Removing and installing front air distribution flap actuation unit (heater and manually controlled air conditioner)
Removal:
- Turn off the ignition and all electricity consumers.
Vehicles without access and start authorisation system
- Remove ignition key, if fitted.
Vehicles with access and start authorisation system
- Store ignition key outside the vehicle to prevent the ignition from being switched on unintentionally.
Continued for all vehicles
- Disconnect battery.
- Remove the dash panel .
- Remove the front air distribution flap control motor.
- Carefully press off the actuating lever -7- -arrow-.
- Carefully press the actuating lever -3- off the defrost flap lever -2-.
- Remove bolts -1, 4, 8-.
- Lift off the actuation unit -9-.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal; note the following.
Note
- Check operation of flaps and hinge mechanism before fitting.
- Make sure levers and shafts are properly fitted in the mounts.
- Check for correct mutual positioning of the two gear wheels.
- The rectangular tooth -2- must engage in the gap -3- at the gear wheel -1-.
- When fitting the actuation unit, the actuating lever -5- must engage in the lever -6- of the centre vent flap.

Removal:
- Turn off the ignition and all electricity consumers.

- Store ignition key outside the vehicle to prevent the ignition from being switched on unintentionally.
Continued for all vehicles
- Disconnect battery.
- Remove the dash panel.
- Remove the front air distribution flap control motor.
- Carefully press off the actuating lever -5- -arrow-.
- Remove bolts -1, 2, 6-.
- Lift off the actuation unit -7-.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal; note the following.
Note
