Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Air conditioner service station
- Socket and key - 3320/1-
- Engine bung set - VAS 6122-

Removal:
- Turn off the ignition and all electricity consumers.
Vehicles without access and start authorisation system
- Remove ignition key, if fitted.
Vehicles with access and start authorisation system
- Store ignition key outside the vehicle to prevent the ignition from being switched on unintentionally.
Continued for all vehicles
- Extract refrigerant.
- Observe instructions when working on refrigerant circuit.
- Remove air duct in the lock carrier, remove clamp -1- and unscrew bolt -2- left and right.
Note During installation and removal, differences that exist based on the particular engine type must be taken into account.

- Separate and take out air duct in the lock carrier.
- Screw out the bolts -2, 4- using the socket - 3320/1- and detach the refrigerant lines -1, 3-.
- Seal open lines and connections with clean plugs from the Engine sealing plug set - VAS 6122- .

Installing
Install in reverse order of removal; note the following.
- Renew O-rings.
- If applicable, check the fitted pin -4- for damage and correct positioning.
- Check the guide ring -2- at the refrigerant line connection for damage.
- Insert the O-ring -3- in the groove -arrow- at the connection of the refrigerant line -1-.

Note
- Use is not to be made of the O-rings from the caps of the replacement air conditioner compressor connections.
- Moisten O-rings with refrigerant oil before installing.
- Pay attention to correct positioning of the O-rings in the groove of the corresponding refrigerant pipe.
- Routing and attachment of refrigerant lines.
- Insert the refrigerant lines -1, 3- in the corresponding connection at the air conditioner compressor.
- Tighten the bolts -2, 4- using the socket - 3320/1- .
- Refill with refrigerant and refrigerant oil.
