Removing and installing control and display unit

Special tools and workshop equipment required

  • Lever for the front-end - 3370-

Air conditioning system

Removal:

Note The picture shows a vehicle with Climatronic. Proceed in the same way to remove and assemble other versions.

  • Open the lid for centre console storage compartment if necessary.
  • Using the extractor hook - 3370- , clip out the controller at the points -arrows- and remove the controller.

Air conditioning system

  • Detach connector from the buttons on the dash panel -1-, -2- or -3-; push the catch -arrow- to do this.

Note The number of button connectors on the control unit can change from version to version.

Air conditioning system

  • Unplug the connectors -1, 2, 3- of the heating and air conditioning system controller -J65- / -J301- / -J255- by sliding the locking element -4- upwards -arrow- and pressing the catch -5- inwards.

Note The number of heating and air conditioning system controllers can change from version to version.

Air conditioning system

  • Remove bolts -1- of the cover of the heating and air conditioning system controller -J65- / -J301- / -J255- .

Air conditioning system

  • Press clips -2- and remove heating and air conditioning system controller -J65- / -J301- / -J255- -1- from the cover-3-.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal; note the following.

Note Before installing the controller, check the condition of the clips and replace if necessary.

  • Close the connector of the control unit.
  • Insert the upper fastening in the mount -see illustration- and engage the controller in the centre console.
  • Vehicles with automatically controlled air conditioner: Check the infrared sensor -arrow- for dirt and clean as necessary.
