Seat Leon >> Electronic immobilizer
The electronic immobiliser system built into your Seat Leon helps to prevent unauthorized individuals from starting the engine with an invalid key, thereby safeguarding the vehicle against theft and unauthorized movement.
The vehicle key contains an advanced integrated transponder chip that automatically deactivates the electronic immobiliser the moment a valid, properly programmed key is detected inside the passenger cabin.
Conversely, the electronic immobiliser is armed and activated automatically as soon as the system detects that there is no longer a valid key present inside the vehicle.
For this security reason, the engine of your Seat Leon can only ever be started using a genuine, properly coded original SEAT key. Replacement or additional keys of this specialized type can be purchased directly from any authorized SEAT dealer.
NOTICE Flawless, trouble-free operation of the vehicle's electronic systems is best ensured by exclusively using genuine SEAT keys and approved components.

start.
If the vehicle system fails to detect a valid key inside the cabin, an emergency start procedure will be required. A clear notification regarding this condition will appear on the instrument dash panel display. This scenario can occur, for example, if the battery inside your Seat Leon vehicle key is completely depleted or running very low on charge.
- Immediately after pushing the start button, place the key flat into the drink holder located in the centre console ››› Fig. 120, positioning it as close as possible to the designated Kessy detection logo.
- The ignition will connect, and the engine will then start automatically.
